2 explosions in 5 months in the same region.... this deepwater drilling is no longer a safe practice and should be banned. and if i were in congress i would sponsor the damn bill to ban it...

or people are getting over-sensitive to the news, or people tend to mess up even more with the last GOM disaster in mind... whatever... I hope things change SOON. We're messing up our planet

What company is that?
13 workers are safe.
investigating possible leak.
no company name that i can find...

Im assuming its the BP rig they are talking about...it was just recapped recently....tho im sure there are others out there leaking that they arent telling us about or are just playing the blind eye themselves...
we need a better solution...order the entire country to get a horse/1 car per family, free bikes and public transport...the whole country will not change unless it is mandated
The thing is... those rigs may represent more than one oil company.
I had a roughneck neighbor that used to work the oil islands off the coast of Long Beach. The company that paid him was called 'THUMS'... which stood for Texaco, Humble, Union, Mobil, Standard.
I'm not sure if this is the same thing with the Deep Water Horizon rig in the Gulf. BP was responsible because they were the ones doing the drilling at the time of the explosion/oil gusher. But, they may be getting paid by Atlantic Richfield, Chevron or Shell. So, even if you do avoid BP filling stations... they (BP) may stilll be getting paid on the money-go-round.
The whole oil industry is as murky as the crude.
Hail, Hail!!!
keep your fingers crossed. :?

Obama Offshore Drilling Moratorium OVERTURNED By Judge

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A federal judge struck down the Obama administration's six-month ban on deepwater oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico as rash and heavy-handed Tuesday, saying the government simply assumed that because one rig exploded, the others pose an immediate danger, too.
The White House promised an immediate appeal. The Interior Department had imposed the moratorium last month in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster, halting approval of any new permits for deepwater projects and suspending drilling on 33 exploratory wells.
……
You don’t remember good ole Rep. Senator Joe Barton of TX.
If it was done on purpose, then blame the oil companies for being greeding in order to beat the next round of the Justice Department's appeals to reinstate the moratorium.

I'd shop at BP over Citgo any day.
