Guaranteed Video removed from YouTube

Ok what's up with the Guaranteed video being removed from You Tube?

I would think the artist and video maker(s), label, etc would want as many people to see the video and hear the song...you know, the viral marketing approach to create buzz...especially since this probably doesn't get radio play.

Or is the goal simply profit (via Verizon vcast bullshit).

I would think there is more economic (and critical) upside by going the YouTube route.

Sorry if this has been posted alreayd but I have not had a chance to be on the board in the last week.

Anyway, i just want to see the video and as many others to appreciate it as well.

Doesn't help if your NOT American :(

That said it was probably VH1 who had the vid pulled since it seems like they had/have exclusivity at the moment.

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party.

    Yep, probably VH1.
I shit and I stink. I'm real, join the club.

A friend, he called, I didn't mention a thing. The last thing he said was, "Be sound". Sound. I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit. I just thought those would be such appropriate last words. But I'm still here.

    Yep, probably VH1.

    That is a shame..
I posted the video on Youtube on the 1st day it was released, and today I´ve got this e-mail..

    "Dear Member:

This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by Sony/BMG claiming that this material is infringing:

    Eddie Vedder - Guaranteed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWgxntibBtE

Please Note: Repeat incidents of copyright infringement will result in the deletion of your account and all videos uploaded to that account. In order to prevent this from happening, please delete any videos to which you do not own the rights, and refrain from uploading additional videos that infringe on the copyrights of others. For more information about YouTube's copyright policy, please read the Copyright Tips guide."

It totaly sucks if VH1 have exclusive rights of the video...and I really don´t understand there strategy since music videos should be free in order to increase CD sales and to promote there artis. I can´t believe this..

D'oh! Is there any other website that has this video up along with the VH1 website? I don't get VH1 here & we are blocked up here to view the video on the VH1 website. I can't depend on MuchMusic or MuchMoreMusic here cause they suck balls!

Maybe VH1 can apply those same rules to the rest of their site.

Oh wait, then they wouldn't have a site worth a shit...Don't be mad at YouTube. Someone at Sony had to bitch first.

  • i dont understand this stuff. the idea of the video is for promo, right? i could see if was clips from touring band or something cause there is money to be made/lost on it. but the idea behind music videos is so people buy the single or the album. maybe im just confused but i just think people are being stupid cause of greed. i mean they would probably make more money if more people saw the video. but since its 'their' video no one is allowed to touch it.

"mine, hands off, get your own" seems to be the thought behind anything artistic these days. and usually from people that dont have a creative bone in their body.
  • well, i'm glad that i converted it and put it on my ipod right away!
