CONTROVERSIAL ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro has claimed Osama bin Laden is a CIA agent. He said former US President George W Bush rolled out the al-Qaeda leader whenever he needed to scare the world.

The former Cuban President said: "Any time Bush would stir up fear and make a big speech, bin Laden would appear threatening people with a story about what he was going to do. "Bush never lacked for bin Laden's support. He was a subordinate."

Mr Castro made the comments in a chat with Lithuanian writer Daniel Estulin, who is well known for advancing conspiracy theories.

The Cuban, 84, is a long-standing enemy of the US and has been the subject of numerous assasination attempts by the US Central Intelligence Agency. Mr Castro stepped down due to ill health in 2006 - first temporarily, then permanently.He has handed power over to his younger brother Raul.

    I wouldn't doubt this for some reason... I call bullshit that the U.S. "can't find Bin Laden", back when they were supposedly looking for him. :roll:

    it's funny you say that, as it seems quite odd that they can't find him in this day and age. and nothing would surprise me anymore, really.

    they can't catch him because they have to keep the boogeyman out there. you can't control a population when they have nobody to be scared of. the ransom offers are so sky high on this man's head that someone would have sold him out long ago.

    it is fidel castro. the man led a successful revolution so he is not as stupid as alot of people in the US would think...frailty and illness do not equal stupidity...

    i am thinking that there is a small chance that there might be something to this story. how many other despots and unsavory characters have been on the cia payroll the last 50 years?

    He was trained and funded by the US via Pakistan's ISI when he was (by US definition, of course) a freedom fighter with the Mujaheddin.....would it really be shocking to learn he was still being used for covert political gain?

    what i find strange is that prior to sept 11 Bin laden could be tracked via his dialisis treatments.
    since then he must have made an amazing recovery to not need dialisis anymore.
    either that or he was killed in the Bora Bora explosions .
