Is this a book and a documentary or just a book? Looks interesting either way, but if it's a documentary film I'd like to get it.

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated. :D

No problem. Great book. Layne's story was my favorite. So sad. :(

I saw this in the book store.I wasn't sure about it if it would just be regurgitated stories or sensationalism.
    Is it worth getting?

Enjoy it. Once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down. That's what happened with me.

Will let you know what I think of it ... I am on a big reading binge at the moment so devouring books by the week.

  • I have read quite a few books dealing with the Northwest rock explosion and I would definitely put this one on the top of the pyramid. I really enjoyed the oral history approach to the book. This way, you're getting the story "straight from the horses mouth" as opposed to other books where a bands story might be inflated or deflated depending on the authors view of the subject matter.

I also really liked the fact that a lot of other bands from that era share the spotlight with the "big four" from that region. So yes, while there is a lot about Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, there is also a lot about The Melvins, Screaming Trees, Tad, Mudhoney, Green River, The Riot Grrrl movement, etc.

Hadn't heard of this book, but it sounds like something I'd like to pick up.
