i just came across this speech by mario savio. it is about 7 minutes long, and if this does not get you fired up, then you have no pulse.....feel free to discuss and make your pro or con position known...

    i want to see it. that speech was awesome. i looked for more from him on youtube but there was not too much there. is the name of the movie "berkley in the sixties"?

    yes, thats the name of it. its a pretty comprehensive look at berkeley's activist scene, from the early 1960's, to the free speech movement that mario was a huge part of and was leader of, to the rise of the hippie, to the radicalization of students as the vietnam war ramped up and finally as the 60's ended the sense of sadness and nostalgia.

    its a really great film, its a documentary. they show that clip of him doing the "there is a time when the operation of the machine" speech and all that.
