Let's Pay Homage to THE CLASH !!

The thread regarding Mick and Paul playing with Gorrillaz prompted me to listen to Sandinista on the way to work today.
The Clash were the first cool band I discovered when I was in the 8th grade. Once I listened to London Calling, my life was never the same!
Both London Calling (a double album) and Sandinista (a triple album!) are two of my alltime favorite albums, and both served as the soundtrack to my life back then. Ten sides of vinyl with very little filler! Listening to all of Sandinista can be a bit of a challange!
I wasn't a huge fan of Combat Rock, and once Mick "left" the band, I was done with them at that point.
However, looking back, they are one of the best bands of all time!
They had an exhibit at the Rock N Roll HOF a few years back; I spotted an error on one of the photo captions...the photo described as the US Festival showed the band actually playing at Rich Stadium, opening for The Who. One employee didn't really belive me when I brought it to his attention, but the higher-up I spoke too finally understood their error.

I traded my first vinyl copy of Highway To Hell for Combat Rock back in 1983. Alas I was too young and too late to see The Clash in all their glory. But hey, I became a Who freak in 1982 so I was accustomed to dealing with never seeing the band I loved so dearly (although I have now seen The Who 7 times since 1989. I only had to wait 7 years). I was really into the first 3 albums, but just couldn't get into Sandinista. It just didn't have the Punk edge and bite that the early albums had. Then in 2000 it hit me like a ton of bricks. Sandinista is a Masterpiece. It has everything, and I mean everything. Sandinista also gave me a fresh view on Combat Rock. I find that the music on Combat Rock is the natural progression from Sandinista. How do you feel about Combat Rock these days JOEJOEJOE?
On a side note, there are those that credit The Clash with having produced the first recordings of the Two Tone movement. The Clash covered Pressure Drop before The Specials ever recorded a note. There were a few other Ska covers recorded by The Clash during these early sessions, including a Desmond Decker cover which was never released. Does anyone here have any insight on this?
