anyone who has had a part in inciting the racist haters, shares responsibility for this.
this is just one story. the other day i posted a you tube clip of the anti islam rally at ground zero. it's disgusting and shows racist behaviour towards a black man who they thought was Muslim. hardly anyone had any comments on it. whys that again? because some people don't give a fuck. history has taught them nothing.
here's that video of an anti islam rally again at ground zero if anyone gives a shit.

and here's the story of the cab diver who has lived in the US for 25 years, has 4 children who were born in the US and who got stabbed because he was Muslim.

the Government (past and present) are doing what they want to do. they are not honestly representing the voice of their voters. they are playing with you. they have you exactly where they want you to be. not worrying about what they are doing, and through fearmongering, allowing yourselves to fight among yourselves and not worry about the REAL issues.
prejudice is being used as a weapon to criple your nation. people are not born with prejudices, they are made for you. made by someone who wants something. remember when you hear this kind of talk, someone is going to get something out of it and it sure as shit isn't going to be you.
the most fucked up thing, is that you are letting this happen. letting yourselves be divided by race, color and religion. you have no clue that by not taking care of everyones liberties, all you are doing is losing your own.
thing is, that's exactly what the Government wants. they want you to be angry. they want you to be stupid. they want you to be split into many 'groups'. because while you are doing that, you are fighting amongst yourselves and will never be strong enough to hold your Government accountable, and they can keep on doing exactly what they want.
and before anyone jumps all over my ass, i'm not talking about ALL Americans. but there's a hell of a lot who this does apply to.
However, it really urks me when people lash out on this board and claim that anyone who didn't reply to their posts "dont give a fuck"......
What do you want people to say? You seem to battling hate with more hate. Issues are important to me but sometimes I like to step back and focus on what is most important to me ant that is my family. Does that make anyone like me ignorant or unfeeling to subjects, I do not think so. There is so much to worry about in the world and sometimes people just like to focus on whats two feet in front of them instead of a miles away.

what do i want people to say? what they feel? that the way the people acted at the rally was wrong? that it's not a representation of how everyone else feels? that they will speak out to ensure it doesn't get even more out of control?
and i get your point about other issues being more important to you. i do get that.

i agree with this post absolutely. US foreign policy is all about dividing and conquering.....why wouldn't they use that same tactic on their biggest threat, the american people?
unfortunately this is just one of many examples of not just islamophobia, but outright anti-muslim sentiment among a few in this country. do i need to go back and remind everyone the violence and hate crimes against muslims in the wake of 9/11? violence against them for no other reason than because their skin is a few shades darker and they happen to be muslim? disgusting....

NYC driver attacked after saying he was Muslim; motivation unclear
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38852372/ns ... nd_courts/
NEW YORK — A college student accused of slashing a Muslim New York City taxi driver had recently sought publicity for a documentary he filmed about soldiers in Afghanistan.
The revelation made the motivation for the brutal Tuesday night attack difficult to determine. Some blamed the vitriolic debate going on in New York City over an Islamic center proposed to be built near Ground Zero. The movie raised the specter of fame-seeking.
Michael Enright was charged Wednesday with using a folding tool to slash the neck and face of driver Ahmed H. Sharif.
A criminal complaint alleged that Enright uttered an Arabic greeting and told the victim, "Consider this a checkpoint," before the attack inside the yellow cab on Manhattan's East Side. Police say Enright was drunk at the time.
A judge ordered Enright, 21, held without bail on charges of attempted murder and assault as a hate crime and weapon possession. The handcuffed defendant, wearing a polo shirt and cargo shorts, did not enter a plea during the brief court appearance.
In addition to a serious neck wound, Sharif suffered cuts to forearms, face and one hand while trying to fend off Enright, prosecutor James Zeleta said while arguing against bail.
Sharif issued a statement: "Right now, the public sentiment is very serious" because of the debate over the Islamic center. "All drivers should be more careful."
The New York City Taxi Workers Alliance and Sharif plan to hold a news conference Thursday to call for an end to biogotry and anti-Islamic rhetoric in the debate over the Islamic center.
Publicity sought for film
However, NBC reporter Katy Tur said on "Countdown with Keith Olberman" that Enright showed no animosity toward Muslims when he contacted her by email to seek publicity about his documentary, which follows a U.S. soldier Enright knew.
"He just wanted to get a point across that soldiers were not getting enough attention back in the U.S.," Tur said, noting his politeness. "He didn't say anything against Muslims or their faith."
Enright filmed the documentary while volunteering for Intersections International, a group that promotes interfaith dialogue and has supported a controversial proposed mosque near ground zero.
An Intersections representative, the Rev. Robert Chase, called the situation "tragic."
"We've been working very hard to build bridges between folks from different religions and cultures," Chase said. "This is really shocking and sad for us."
Chase said Enright had volunteered for the group for about a year on a project that involved veterans.
He did a video project that sent him to Afghanistan for about six weeks this spring to document the life of an average soldier, Chase said. He was embedded with a unit there.
Intersections has come out in support of the mosque project, but Chase said Enright wasn't involved in that.
Mayor decries attack
Sharif, a 43-year-old Bangladeshi immigrant who's driven a cab for 15 years, accepted an invitation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a staunch of the supporter of the mosque, to visit City Hall on Thursday.
"This attack runs counter to everything that New Yorkers believe no matter what god we pray to," the mayor said in a statement.
Zead Ramadan of the Council on American-Islamic Relations told Countdown the attack shows how stressed teens are being affected by hate and fear mongering over the Islamic center debate. He praised Bloomberg for being "on the right side of history."
The attack report
About 6 p.m. Tuesday, Enright hailed the cab at East 24th Street and Second Avenue, said Deputy Inspector Kim Royster, a New York Police Department spokeswoman.
Sharif told authorities that during the trip, Enright asked him whether he was Muslim. When he said yes, Enright pulled out a weapon — believed to be a tool called a Leatherman — and attacked the driver, Royster said.
After the assault, the driver tried to lock Enright inside the cab and drive to a police station, police said. The suspect jumped out a rear window at East 40th Street and Third Avenue.
An officer there noticed the commotion, found Enright slumped on the sidewalk and arrested him.
A case for the tool was found inside the cab, but the tool itself was missing, police said.
Enright faces a maximum eight to 25 years in prison if convicted of the attempted murder count.

interesting.......
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Sometimes I skim, and I must have missed it...
It just seems that you might take away from some really good points you have by lashing out that nobody gives a hoot...
this whole thing has gotten out of hand.
The poison from the poison stream caught up to you ELEVEN years ago and you floated out of here. Sept. 14, 08
two reasons,
#1 they agree with you...do want a bunch of +1's or something?
#2 they didn't see the thread or feel that everything has been said on the subject.
What more do you want people to say?
Also as an American, I certainly get sick of participating in threads that constantly generalize Americans as Hateful Racist morons who are controlled by their government. It gets old because it isn't true.
It is terrifying when you are too stupid to know who is dumb

i agree - the threads that get the most responses are generally ones where there is an actual debate ... so, if no one really opposes the viewpoint ... there really isn't much to discuss ...
i've always said on this board that the thing tha makes america strong is what also makes it weak ... americans are one of the most nationalistic and proud people out there ... which is great but it also leads many to either choose to be ignorant of the actions done in the name of america or not believe anything bad written about the country ... no one anywhere wants to feel guilt ... and so, any viewpoint bashing america is often responded to with everyone's backs up ... many can't take a step back and see the point objectively ...
i don't want a bunch of +1's and i already answered the what more do i want people to say.
i'd also like to repeat that i didn't say ALL americans, i said some Americans.
and you say you are sick of participating in threads that constantly generalize Americans as Hateful Racist Morons? are you saying that is what i do? constantly? maybe if those people at the rally didn't act hateful and racist i wouldn't be starting a thread about it. unless of course you disagree? if you don't think the people at the rally were hateful and racist then i don't know what to say.
and it hasn't been lost on me that there's been more outrage by people in this thread complaining to me about how i conduct myself when trying to defend these people, than there is actual outrage at the actions of the people that prompted me to start this thread in the first place.
i'll keep that in mind.
i always thought that patriotism has never been blind allegiance to people or policy. it's loyalty to an ideal - to principle. if you feel that an injustice has been committed, or ideals or principles have been betrayed, you should speak out in defense of them and speak out to preserve what you feel is great and speak out because of what you love about the country.
i guess others see it differently.
unfortunately people use patriotism to excuse many of their beliefs and actions...IMO patriotism does nothing but serve to divide the people of the world...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
You should keep that in mind and next time instead of turning the thread into a forum to talk about how no one else cares, you will give people the opportunity to respond in their own time.

I was going to respond, and when I read the comments my response changed and became pointed at he op instead of the topic, but I just get sick of the holier than thou attitude that is displayed quite a bit on these threads, unfortunately TA just happened to be the one to do it this time when I was sick of seeing it. I may have derailed the thread so I am out...
As to the dink who did this stabbing, I think he is in for a rude awakening when he gets to prison.

if that was the case - we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now ...
first off, we have seen the ugliness you talk about in politics for years. anti - president sentiment is always there, it was there when clinton was banging interns, it was there when Bush was compared to Nazi and called a moron every day, it is there with Obama, oddly enough also being called a Nazi.
The I Love you post and some others are there for a distraction, constantly worrying about all the horrible things happening is exhausting, and sometimes, on some days, people just want to be a little positive and not involve themselves in a serious discussion. It is more about timing than anything else.
Also, I think we would get a lot better discussion in these threads if we just created one thread on a topic and posted all things related to that thread in that thread. for instance, anti islam sentiment in the US could be one topic, we didn't need 40 on the mosque, that is when it becomes overwhelming and hard to post in all the related topics.

First off.. Let me say this It's terrible what happened to this man. There's no excuse period !!
Second: This link you posted that you claim is an anti Islam rally. You really need to get a clue.. No one is protesting against islam for gods sake. I mean how many times do I have to tell you this ? I already know what youre going to say. Your going to say " Bullshit you see that sign that has the word Sharia dripping in Blood?" There may be a few nuts in the crowd, but that doesn't mean all those people are against Islam. This whole debate has not been about that, It's been about the location. Think about it  If these people were anti Islam than why would you have muslims there agreeing also that it's not a good idea to build it there ?
Also that black guy that walks into the crowd and starts giving people eat shit looks was a plant. He did that on purpose. There were several people there that were on a talk show and saw the whole thing go down. All you have to do is watch it and you can tell he's nothing more than a rabble rouser.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/ ... group.html
would you care to try to explain why in the poll i posted yesterday that 42% of those responding said that they have a negative/unfavorable view of islam and 37% have "no opinion"??? those numbers suggest more than "just a few nuts"...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
?
that seems to be exactly what these folks were doing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwaNRWMN-F4
forget he wasn't muslim.
so if a guy robs a bank in brooklyn and happens to be christian....does that mean no churches can go up in near the bank he robbed? or is it a 2 mile radius? or does he have to kill a bunch of people to disallow churches in the area? how much power do criminals have over you, i guess would be the main bulletin point of this presentation... in the form of question.
someone we don't know saying he was a rabble rouser just isn't evidence, i hope you can see that. even so, say he was a plant, isnt' their reaction still telling? that they are islamophobes, against the idea if Islam, (for the record the guy seems to be walking into the crowd with no apparent instigating going on). why else would they react that way?
