Yeah, I'd say it's a step below Monsters of Folk in Supergroup status, but I'll still be interested. I haven't heard any music Ben Harper made that I don't like.
Does this mean he's done scratching the Relentless7 itch? Maybe that severe illness in R7 pulled the plug on the band completely rather than simply cancelling a few shows? Is the album they promised in the fall this past spring going to be shelved to promote this new thing?
I think this actually poses more questions than anything...especially considering that Ben has been toting new bands the past few years like he had been toting new genres in the early 00's.
Saw this email in my inbox this morning and was hoping it was a release date for the R7 album, but this sounds cool....although my computer is all jacked up and I can't get the video to play right. mP3 anyone??
As far as R7, I was unaware of there being a severe illness in the band. Any info?
I suppose that illness could delay the release of the album a while and apparently it has because it has been done since April and the release date has been since then "this fall". Since there is no announced release date for Give Til Its Gone now I guess we'll have to wait. I would prefer the R7 album, but this should be cool too. Ben doesn't do anything bad
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

Great combo! I love that it appears to be all acoustic. Is it just me, or does the combination of their voices make them sound a bit like Peter Gabriel?
very interesting....i like it.
Ben's certainly been busy lately. It makes me wonder if he'll ever get the Innocent Criminals back together...i hope so.
My God; Dhani Harrison looks almost exactly like his father in the 70's!
yeah he is a splitting image actually.. i love everyone in this band but honestly have lost touch on ben harper stuff since the innocent criminal days.
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

I haven't had a chance to hear this yet, though I am sure it is probably good since Ben Harper rarely disappoints. I also read the Rolling Stone story on this...apparently there is a full album coming out at some point coupled with a tour in October, so all good stuff.
I just hope Ben doesn't pull a Les Claypool and get involved in so many projects at once that it is too much energy to keep pace and you ultimately lose interest. I mean, in the late-90s, between Primus, Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade, his work with Buckethead, his solo stuff, possibly Sausage reunion, and the like...I just couldn't keep up and maintain interest.
FYI, I took a gander around and see the tentative release date for this album is 10/5/10...which raises the question as to when the Relentless7 album is coming out.
Looking forward to everything that comes from this- Ben, Joseph & Dhani are all incredible artists! Can't wait for more!
