i was awake
but dreaming
and above me there was a voice
so familiar
but one that i hadn't heard in what
feels like....
ages.

i was walking
i was floating
i was blinking
i was sleeping
then i was smiling

the haze lifted
the night vanished
and there he was
dear-ol-dad.
such a sweet sight and one i've missed.
we've all missed him.

we couldn't talk.
barely move.
just smile.
and cry a bit.
i know he's there
and know he's here.

because he's my dad
and he wouldn't leave us behind.

thanks for visiting.
daylight.

  • your words are sincere and very positive... I believe this poem would do a lot of good to others who may have been close to your father...

    stay well

    "such a sweet sight"
I long to see my fathers smiling eyes again, see his beautiful hands, his stubbly white cheeks and crumpled old captains hat
hear his laugh and sit on his lap.
Thank you for your poem, for a moment he was here with me.
