Chances are that by now you've heard about the August 19, 2010 Pew poll that found that nearly one fifth of Americans (mistakenly) believe that President Obama is a Muslim. Perhaps you think that a terrifying outlier; or perhaps you're a believer, and then you are in good company. Either way, you're wrong: in fact, a remarkably high numbers of Americans believe the most unusual things. Although the portion of poll respondents who believe Obama is a Muslim has risen recently, some of these oddball opinions contain more consistent numbers of believers.

    again,

whenever this gets raised, the implication is that there is something wrong with being an Arab-American or a Muslim.

Is there something wrong with being a muslim in the US?

    anyone?

I think the whole thing where people believe he is a muslim shows how uninformed people are about other religions.
I mean would a muslim really host a beer sumit?

Some of the Muslims I know definitely would - they won't eat pork, but they can drink you under the table. I had a Muslim roommate in college and he went through as much beer in one weekend as I'd go through in a month
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

we all position our selfs in life, go to work,go to school, start a business etc. everybody needs a hand at least once in their life some people will not do what it takes to survive the way they would like to live and some of them think that just because another person did and did it well that that person owes them something...why ?
I have never expected anybody that earned their wealth should give part of it to me unless I work for that person and then I want just what I have earned and no more, but at the same time a person of wealth that can afford to help the people truly in need dose have that obligation to help and it dose not always have to be money in hand they can help with shelter, food, clothing etc.
the reason I don't come on the train much anymore is because some posters such as yourself are constantly looking for a argument on any simple post and I am to ez to fight back or call bullshit so it best I not come on here much anymore, btw I help people on a personal level when I can and I am by no means a millionaire, with out being sarcastic and honest do you walk the walk or talk the talk ? (honest question)

  • in all honesty godfather, your statement was a blanket one, saying that if you are poor, that means you don't work hard enough and don't deserve anything from the rich. I took it the same way Commy did. go back and look at your entire post, I think you might want to reword it then.

  • why are you offended at what Commy said if this post properly articulates what you believe? do you really think that you earned everything you have gotten out of life? you don't think you won the lottery by your geographical birth? in essence, we all did. all of us on this board. all of us that own a computer. even the lower middle class of North Americans are still richer than 98% of the world. that's why it bothers me that someone can come on the board saying "I'm a poor PJ fan, can you send me something for free?". People don't know what poor is. People don't get that poor people have most likely nothing to do with their financial situation.

plus, it's contradictory. you say that poor people expect handouts, and "why?", then you go on to say the rich have an obligation to hand out to the poor. which is it, GF?

I heard a report that News Week was just sold for $1 U.S. dollar, although the new buyer has to assume the massive debt along with the name brand.

You know, people could have answered this because they believe God created living things. They may still believe that evolution has occurred starting immediately after creation. I don't think there is anyway to prove or disprove the start of life. Everyone is guessing.

Actually, I hope that is why people didn't believe in evolution. Otherwise it is scary.

  • I assumed that. But you'd still think that people would look at evidence, REAL, HARD evidence for their knowledge. Is it fact? Nope. But it's hard to freaking ignore it.

So does that mean that people still think the sun revolves around earth? actually, it does:

"Didn't we clear this one up in the 16th century? Copernicus be damned, 20 percent of Americans were still sure in 1999 that the sun revolved around the Earth. Gallup, the pollster that conducted the study, gamely tried to dress it up by celebrating the fact that "four out of five Americans know Earth revolves around the sun," but we're not buying."

I'd be interested to hear the worldwide stats on that one.

I NO longer support anything the Tea Party represented..We are a spiraling out of control mess..If anyone has a chance, a friend of mine who writes for The Sovereign Newspaper just published a book entitled The UN-American Genocidal Complex By Rob Roselli. I can get copies if anyone wants one. It can put a bunch of why things are happening the way they are now into perspective for you, but be prepared to be shocked and appalled.
