  • in the 60 minutes interview, they are saying that "twenty million people are affected - that's a bigger human toll than the Haiti earthquake and the Boxing Day Tsunami combined...."

    just terrible.

    :(

LIZ HAYES: This crisis is still in its infancy. The water is still coming, and there are more homes and families in its way. The health and welfare of this nation is on a knife's edge. Without help, Pakistan and its people may never recover.

BOB HANDBY: I think the thing for me is that, when you come face to face with somebody who's suffering so badly it is almost impossible to turn your back, I would defy anybody to walk away and say, "Well, you know, it's sad about that, and it's not my problem. I'd defy people to be able to do that and sleep properly at night.

if this doesn't highlight how inept, or how imaginary american journalism is i don't know what will.

if its intentional that we are not hearing about it, i want to know why. if its because no one gives a shit then get off your ass and MAKE THEM.

yeah .. and i thnk i heard international aid is nowhere near what other countries got (thailand tsunami, haiti earthquake) ...

i know most don't want to hear this ... but the reality is that this is the consequence of climate change ... there are simultaneous floods in northern china now that has killed hundreds and displaced thousands as well ...

it will only get worse ... :(

  • it's simple why there's not enough aid comin or why not enough news coverage or why many just don;t give a shit... country's known to be best friends with the biggest badasses around... the opinion of many westerners basically happens to be that fuck aidin a Muslim country known to be funding the real shit and all..

no doubt some of that's true as far as renegade, underground elements go and covert shit generally, but firstly that kinda stuff is true of any politically significant govt in this fucked up day n age, and secondly, and what's pissin off, is that that ain't the point... these opinions come from citizens of countries whose administrations are up to no good whatsoever... and when we did have the least worst fucker headin our country, he was told to take a walk, cuz he was all military , and the west couldn't be seen to support such a guy... so they supported the biggest, feudal thug and her hubby to take charge... lil wonder the badasses are now havin their way more than they ever did cuz the thugs don't give a shit and in times of flood, the sufferers are bearing the brunt, being told to fuck off cuz their leaders are incompetent n chances are they'll swallow up all the cash that comes their way... sad thing is, this President n his gang might indeed swallow much of it... but who fuckin put em there...

Aid is no less political than anythin else

it's good to get some perspective from someone that is living there, and sadly i agree with you regarding the reasons enough aid is probably not coming though.

frigging hypcrites with their double standards.

i hope you and your friends and loved ones are ok.

we need to do more people.

here's a link that shows various aid agencies that are involved with the disaster if you are able to provide any help at all.

I donated to Red Cross (Canadian) they seem to me to always be the most trustworthy which is important in times like this..

hundreds of thousands could die, it is not over yet.

maybe its just me but i hear about this everyday. won't lie and say that its on the front page but i read or hear about it everyday. sadly, I have talked with so many people who donate to a lot of charities and a lot are talking about how its hard for them to give because of their own money situation. I already give $25 a month to the Canadian red cross and i know i can't afford more.

"floods in pakistan" was the topic of plenty of stories. but the idea that 20 million have lost their homes, or that more people are affected than katrina and the tsunami combined or that hundreds of thousands are vulnerable to water born diseases, that without treatment some of have a 50% death toll.

these things i learned on 60 minutes australia. i live in idaho, i shouldn't have to get my news from another country.

not saying i believe this yet but had anyone else gotten reports along these lines. Canada is apparently going to send DART to Pakistan but the issue is safety for the workers.
