a midnight minute

for a minute he felt involved
or like he belonged
then the clock struck midnight
and all was gone
or had he just drifted off,
and just now finally able to wake himself up?

stale chocolates on the corner table
a valentine with dreams
attached by angels hair
and the cold room
smelled of jasmine
but soaked through

the sirens screamed
echoing through the night
as the drive by suicide
comes to sleep by his side
and he could see his breath crystallize in the air
on the steamy August night

a whisper in his ear
a soft almost silent prayer
questions without answers
and the unseen walking around him
he closed his eyes
suddenly feeling very tired
Peace, Love.

feels like death, a heavy heart, wearied with a passing
it is so draining, I feel it, I remember.
    You capture it for me.

The hope of new love, a new reason, soon, maybe soon?
I hope for this, for you, soon.

beauty and pain so intimately woven together
    turning lovely and lilting lamentations
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke
