12 years ago today . . . . my PJ obsession began.

What a day August 22, 1998 was . . . . my 20th birthday AND my first PJ concert at a 30,000 person general admission show after a weekend at the cottage. Amazing. One of the best days of my life.

Happy 12 year anniversary to Barrie '98!!!!!!

Great show... 5 of us made the drive from Detroit for that show (and drove back afterward which SUCKED) so we could be rested up for the show in Detroit the next night.

Can't believe it was 12 years ago.

My first show as well and I will CHEERS to that! I too will never forget that day! I went with my husband and another couple. My very very good friend and still is convinced me to go. I have been at every show with her ever since being #16(would have been more but you know; kids, mortgage, etc.) at Buffalo in May. Back to Barrie we stayed at this B & B because there were no hotel rooms available. The B & B was in a 1960's sidesplit, not a big old victorian house like you would expect. It was hilarious we woke up to a bedroom filled with pink frilly things. I can still see the "sea" of people in that dust bowl! I had my Yield cassette in my car for probably two years straight! Cheaptrick and Pearl Jam....spectacular  !
    Peace,

My first PJ show too - made the drive to Buffalo the night before, stayed with my cousin, and then we went up to Barrie the next day. It was like 10 days before I started college and a perfect end to that summer...

The drive home afterwards was AWFUL, that I also do remember!

Still have my poster from this show on the wall in my apartment now as well :D

There is a rare instance of the Ames poster from this show on a certain auction site at present should anyone be looking to add it to their collection...might sell quite reasonably too.

    (not my auction either!)

A great show indeed, fond memories. Still have my East Coast leg red soccer jersey from that tour.

  • This was my 2nd show (Toronto 96), and I still can't believe that this was 12 years ago. Great day. Was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Molson Park to find there would be a side stage (Cracker, Matthew Good Band, Hayden and a forth band that I can't remember). Cheap trick was great too. Still love telling the story that Ed gave about the dude with the pumpkin on his head, and the guys with the living room set-up on the back of their pickup truck. Great times.

    1) 4th band that you're forgetting was All Systems Go, and
    2) it was a watermelon!

Amazing day in Canada, that was...

Just came across some old photos...

This one was one I took during the show. I was front row Stone's side and this was the last picture on my roll. I held the camera up over my head and took a picture of the pit behind me. Anyone recognize anybody?

Also, the guy in the bottom left corner has a bloody nose. can't really see it in this photo but it's there. Crazy, crazy pit. What a phenomenal show :)
