Stop asking for stuff and then bitching about it

I am so sick of people asking the band to do stuff and then bitching about it and calling them sellouts. They are actually listening to us, which is cool. THere was a thread a mile long about releasing unplugged. They spend the money, go through the legal issues, spend time, money, and probably deal with a lot of bullshit to get this to the true adult fans that understand this and then some bufoon posts they are sellouts. Don't you see why they stopped touring and stuff. It doesn't matter what they do. Fans get sour. I saw an episode of americas top chef and the foo fighters were on there testing food. If they did that everyone on here would be upset. What is wrong with going on tv and doing things for fun. The foo fighters were awesome and had fun. I don't want any dope smoking tree hungers to respond. Just hard working clean individuals that enjoy music and enjoy pearl jam. I am sick of people judging the band like they know them. You will never be friends with the band so let them do whatever they want. Being so into someone is weird. don't get me wrong. I am a fan I just don't get the weird sellout business. I personally have been dreaming of the day I could get the redone album. Also, if you were a fan you would know the band was not happy with the overproduction of the record. Let them do whatever they want it is there life. Again if you currently smoke dope or don't have a full time job don't respond, because you don't know how the world works and understand that noone is ever happy and that you can only please some people. Well I am some people and I am pleased. Also, I am not new to the forum, just haven't been fired up enough to post. I'm just a lurker.

Hey now - don't be throwing off on *dope smokers* - everyone that I know that smokes DOES work full time jobs - plus a couple of part time jobs on the side (like myself) And trust me, I DO know how this world works - some days it sucks, & some days it's wonderful - but that's just life!!

I am some people, also, and I am also pleased with everything the band does. There is nothing that PJ has done in the past 18 years that has upset me in the least - so no bitchin here . . . but please quit bashing the *dope smokers*

This thread should be officially closed!!!

  • i was completely blown away by the super deluxe offer and bought one immediately. i know not everyone has the means to buy stuff like this on a whim. i think some of the complaining was just people venting about their own situations and maybe just disappointed that they spent all their cash on posters! : )

    Agreed.

First and foremost the % of complainers is far lower than those of us who are totally psyched.

Secondly people who are upset and complain are far louder and more vocal than those who are happy. That is just how it works in every area of customer satisfaction.

So the very small minority of people who are venting really need to look at their own situation and try to fix themselves. That is where the issue is, not with the band.

I agree, but what does smoking dope have to do with anything?

  • I for one am SOOO Excited that PJ are giving us true fans something that i know A LOT of us have been wanting for a really long time now...just the though of MTV Unplugged on DVD is enough to make me salivate, cause at least my WAY BEYOND OLD VHS copy can get a well deserved rest!!!

There is really no reason to complain about what PJ are doing for us or how much it's gonna cost..fair enough a lot of us have fallen on hard times or whatever, but no-one is putting a gun to your head & making you purchase ANYTHING!! I bought the Box set because I LOVE PJ,and have done for a REALLY, REALLY long time and am a MILLION times grateful for anything that comes my way!!

So There y'go...that's my two cents!!!

    to the OP:

Did it ever occur to you that the people who want the stuff and the people who "bitch" about it are different people?

As far as I can tell, no one who has requested the band to do X, Y or Z has bitched about it when X, Y, or Z has happened.

Also, I don't see why you get so upset about this, after all "if you don't like the bitching, just ignore it" right?

Goes along the line with "if you don't like it don't buy it"....don't you think?????

The original post was perfectly appropriate. You can't get pissed at BMW for making cars you can't afford. So don't get pissed that Pearl Jam gave an option to buy a $140 deluxe set. You can't afford it? Boohoo. I can't afford the BMW 7 series (or the 3 series). I just buy a nice Honda, like the complainers should buy the cheaper Ten re-issue.

    Excellent comparison I must say.

I'll be buying the Deluxe set (two CDs, one DVD) solely for the purpose of owning the MTV Unplugged show on DVD.. but that's fine with me.

Think of it like this. We've been buying BMWs for the price of a Honda because they go out of their way to make sure that we can afford this stuff. Now theyre asking us to buy a BMW for the price of a BMW...fair in a way, but not what we've come to expect.

Although I completely agree with your opinion on the boxset and on those who are so strongly against it, your a idiot for including marrijuana users and environmentalists in your description of the sell out crowd. I am sick of assholes judging others like they know them.
    Get over here!
  • Pearl Jam are the furthest thing from sellouts. They really care about their fans and do things because they think it's right not cause someone tells them to.
  • This message was only for the compainers to see. The reason I say dope smoking tree hugger. Is that this is my phrase for people who do drugs, which means you shouldn't be working or a role model of any kind and the tree hugger comment is for people who are not environmentalists that are active (for instance like supporting wildlife refuges like I do), but the complainers that bitch about Bush and never do a thing. I am sorry if I offended environmentalists, this is my term for people who bitch about the environment and don't volunteer their time or money to help. The so called vegetarians that I know have never helped builed habitat for wildlife or donated any money, they just think you should leave them alone. Well in this day in age it is not practical. You need to create habitat now. So, what I am saying is that is my definition not everones. Hopefully I clarified. I just wanted that post to catch the attention of the complainers and educate them to the real world

I don't know what real world you live in but in the real world everyone is a sellout. I have no problem with PJ selling out. It is the way of the real world. I'm tired of people trying to defend them and say they are not sellouts. They may have tried to avoid the attention in the early days but if you sign a contract with a major record label then you've sold out. And I say good for them it's lead them to fortune and fame. If it weren't for them selling out then we would probably not have any new material to be looking forward to.

  • Horos you are right. It takes lawyers and a mile of paperwork just to get a song out to the public. Who will get more royalties the songwriter? Etc. It is a business with real business headachs. I am glad the bands I enjoy go through the headach. I think it is all worth it. Music makes the world go round.

    No.

You've been buying, what, CDs for the price of CDs. Now they're asking for... a lot of money for a lot of CDs (and everything else in the package). Nothing's changed in the pricing of Pearl Jam related stuff. Unless you want them to have a maximum package/product size to prevent something being expensive (regardless of value for money) then you're basically asking for them to pay half the price or something. Now that's something Pearl Jam haven't done, considering the immense size and cost of this.
