Sunrays death

Sunrays death

Sick old hands
make myself a bed
soon dust from bone

The river will carry me home
the way beside the water
more than I
more than I

This old snowmelt raft
sweeps way back
delivering life and death
old and birth

Beside the water
wings rip air to shreds
where fog builds castles
as graceful as the sky
crashing with water below
and these aren’t even mountains anymore
but empty craters
hanging open from sunrays
and the cats balance in a perfect nap
for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."

Chief Joseph - Nez Perce
