08.20.10

Northwest musicians Duff McKagan, Mike McCready, Shawn Smith, Star Anna, Mark Pickerel, Kim Virant, Justin Davis, Tim DiJulio, Chris & Rick Friel, Rebeqa Rivers, Jeff Rouse, Ty Bailie, Kristen Ward, Gary Westlake and friends unite once again for an extraordinary evening of music to benefit the Gulf Coast.

Hootenanny For A Healthy Gulf will include a silent auction, raffle and audience sing-a-long. These, along with the proceeds from ticket sales, will support the efforts of Gulf Restoration Network (GRN), the only non-profit exclusively focused on the health of the Gulf of Mexico.
Hootenanny For A Healthy Gulf is possible by the generous donations of the artists and STG. Special thanks to Tickets.com for waiving its per-ticket service charges.
In addition, 10% of sales at Tom Douglas' Palace Kitchen on the night of the event (Sept 2 only) will be donated to GRN.
Tickets are $20.00 and are available for purchase here.
About Gulf Restoration Network (GRN)
GRN has mobilized all available resources to monitor and respond to BP's oil drilling disaster and is calling on BP and the federal government to clean up this oil disaster and make coastal communities whole again.
GRN is a 16-year old environmental advocacy non-profit that works to unite and empower people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf of Mexico region for future generations. GRN plays a pivotal role in coordinating strategic collaborations across the Gulf, providing their members with technical assistance, and running effective campaigns to successful address environmental threats in Gulf communities.

fingers crossed for Ben showing up.0 -
Fistful of Mercy playing live at KEXP later today...Ben's still in town!
Also heard that Ben Shepherd is throwing out the First Pitch at the Mariners' game on Thursday evening....rest of SG is probably in town?
I'm quite happy with the listed musicians playing...some of the best from this area, but you cannot deny the possibilities of the "and friends" part!I will not lose my Faith, it's an Inside job today....0 -

so this happened last night, right?
any reviews or setlists? I can't find anything“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -

Haven't seen anything. Maybe on Facebook? This is interesting, apparently Mike is playing with Star Anna on Saturday, too.

My memory is a bit sketchy already, had a long drive back to Bellingham afterward, but here are a few highlights/recollections:
We got there a bit late and saw River of Deceit in the program book, but didn't see it performed, maybe missed it, maybe didn't play it...??
Highlight of the night was Purple Rain with Crown of Thorns tags featuring Shawn Smith on keyboard/vocals.
G 'n R Patience featuring Jeff Rouse, Star Anna & Shawn Smith
Star Anna once again stole the show vocally.
Crimson & Clover
Heart of Gold
Beatles Oh! Darling
My Guitar Gently Weeps
Ooh La La
Blue Bayou (?)
Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Monkees I'm a Believer feat Rick Friel in a very energetic rendition
Instant Karma with Alan White on drums
"half time" raffles featuring packages from local places, PJ, Brad, posters, shirts etc. Including an Easy Street package including "the" poster. Rick was doing the raffles with a bit of comedy thrown in.
"I dropped my wallet in Capitol Hill and kicked it for 12 blocks."
"Any of you collect Pearl Jam posters?" ...a few responses... "Aww, c'mon be honest...."
Edgar and Matt auctioned off a VIP tour and lunch with the crew of the Northwestern, I think it sold for $700.
The song Mike sang on (can't remember what it was at the moment  ), he screwed up then beginning, then pointed out his Mom in the audience and how embarrassed she must be right now.
Posters were available for $20, $40 signed (not sure if it was by Brad or the performers).
The program had a handful of song lyrics so we could sing along and included a short bio on most performers.
That's it for now.Post edited by Trizzler on0 -
