The incompetence that is England

About 6 weeks ago I go into that store hmv to order Mirrorball, I get told that it will take 7-10 days to arrive and to wait for their call. Having dealt with them before I know they don't call so I go in after 2 weeks to get told there is a problem with the ordering system and it could take 2 months. I stop by yesterday and get told sorry you don't have anything on order, my name is there on the screen with a big 0 under orders, do you want to reorder it, yeah right, up yours and time wasted, I ain't never going back.
Funny thing is Pearl Jam goes to proving my point even more. I go to see Neil Young in Dublin, drink 5 double Jack D's and one pint of larger, have a great time, Irish bar people are efficient and friendly as hell.
A couple of months later I go to see Pearl Jam in Manchester, ended up having one pint because the lines moved so slowly and I had to get it while the band were on stage.
I have contracted all over the world and when I contract in England there is always a group of coffee table warriors telling me to "F" off back to your own country, I was on contract in the States and these English assholes were telling the Hispanics, "why don't you F off back to your own country", go figure!
Why don't I "F" off back to my own country? because it is Zimbabwe which is run by the murdering piece of garbage mugabe and his zanu henchman, who facilitated his move to power, you guessed it the English. Not only did they support him they also knighted him in 1994, 10 years after he had over 20 000 Ndebele people
dig their own graves and then had his troops blast them into them!
How did the empire come about? because they filled their soldiers with rum and went around the world raping, pillaging and plundering.
If I walk into an English bank and there are 5 English tellers and 1 foreign one I pray for the foreign teller because the English ones are so incompetent, probably thinking about those stupid soap operas and garbage reality shows that have saturated the place. Don't get me started about the radio stations, not one in the whole land worth listening to.

You bet it did , my father was Scottish and my Mother came from English parents, I grew up in the middle of African listening to The Who, Yes and Zeppelin with my English mates. So yes some of the finest people in the world are English, problem is a great deal of very talented English tradespeople, financial experts and artists said forget this we're out of here,in response to the lunatics that run the place.
I would like to add that my rant has an objective and that is to get the people to say yeah sod this we want change.
I'll be the one getting arrested at #10 with an obscene placard.

When I first saw this thread, I read it and didn't comment and thought that as noone had replied it might vanish into the ether. Unfortunately it's still here. I'm English and was a little upset by your comments. I'm not going to get into a big debate about it, but not all the English are the same, I am sure the negative English that you've encounter are a minority.

Yep, the governments crap. I've protested at things before, I've been arrested (not for the protesting bit though) but I'm sure if you speak to a lot of the English on the forum you'll find that there's a lot of relatively sane, nice people.

Anyway, I'm not going to go on.

England is a beautiful country, and the English people are, for the most, a kind and generous people.

The problem is the Government. Labour took over in 97 and Blair spent the next decade lining his pocket, and more damagingly lining the pocket of his cretinous wife, the HUMAN RIGHTS lawyer. We have become a sleeping nation, afraid to stand up to bullies, criminals, perverts and corruption as they have all the rights. Look at all forms of entertainment and there is no credibility to it, no passion. Clothes for children are no longer suitable. Why do children need to be sexualised by slogans, padding and other things.

I love my country, and am proud to be English. I am also ashamed of the way my country has ben run and changed over the last 10-15 years.

Sorry I offended you but I hope you will admit that things have got to a serious point and we have to change things by ranting and raving, millions of very cool English people but there is definitely something going very wrong.

You might not like it but this rant does not come from 1, 2 or even 50 incidents, this is from 20 years of watching the English people in action. Just this morning I go down to the Sainsbury hot food counter (I know the people and place well), same old story, wait for service while 3 English employees stand around talking about Saturday night, who served me in the end? a disabled foreigner who works there!
What came out this morning? Government could lose 500 000 people and not even notice it because the are sitting around doing sod all.
I have just walked out of a 3 year contract at a top University because I got so sick of being told to F... off back to your country ( I am a British citizen). The icing on the cake was when I come back from a weeks unpaid sick leave (I'm a contractor) and find that work that was supposed to have been done 8 days before had not been touched. Head of department tells me "you have to get it done by tomorrow as the customer from Jaguar is coming", my reply was, "so let me get this straight, I have to go and do your peoples work while they sit around having 45 minute tea breaks and 2 hour lunches?"
Come down to my local shops and if you look at one of the yobs the wrong way, a sever beating is waiting for you. The same yobs burnt down the local community centre last weekend, why? because the local black people had hired it for religious meetings. We both know I could go on for pages about this sort of behaviour, good people getting kicked to death in the street and the scum are out in 10 years, 99.9% of the time it is English teenagers.
Keep on hearing about all these good English people, where are they? sat in front of the tv watching garbage while the country turns to shit, the time for generalizations is here.

You know I started typing a long reply to you, explaining the work that youth groups do working with teenagers in inner cities, and the other things that go on to improve the country at a grass roots level. But I know that nothing is going to change your mind on this one, I'm sorry you've encountered so many bad incidents, but I maintain that what you are seeing is the minority and not the majority.

I guess for now I'll go downstairs and sit and watch garbage on the tv whilst my country goes to shit - now where did I put that remote .......

I have to agree with Claireack, I am very sorry for your experiences, and offer no excuse for the behaviour of a MINORITY of English people that have no respect, but I think that to say there are no good English people is pretty much racism. There are lazy people in this country of every nationality, just as there are hardworking people of all nationality. Expressing an opinion is a right we all share, so is the right to not be judged with sweeping statements. Especially as one of those English people has supported you earlier in this thread, but you have then included me in your last post by making such generalizations. Time to let this thread die I believe.

If the UK is so bad, why do thousands risk death to get into here. Its so bad you keep returning just so you can complain about it? Racial tension comes from UK whites being hamstrung, they are held to task over any opinion that is negative to immigrants. Having travelled to many counties I can tell you if you slagged off local people in most countries, you would end up getting a serious beating or worse. You are lucky us British are so tolerant of being insulted!

I am not so stupid to say you don't have some good valid points, because you do. BUT, a big but, We on this website don't quite fit into this rancid description of British humanity. The VAST majority of British people on this fan site are very decent people, paying lots of taxes all their life just to watch most of it squandered .
We HERE can not change policing policy, jail terms, welfare systems (get real, a vote means nothing). If we protest in any numbers on the street we would probably be water cannoned or tear gased. IT IS NOT a free country of free speech or free action (get real again), more like a dictatorship in action!
We here talk about the great band known as Pearl Jam, although we do venture into other more serious topics. People here are not political activists but are just music fans enjoying the part of their lives that are not tainted with violence, bad morals or crime. Not total escapists, but aware that its either a case of being depressed at ones position in life or enjoying what we can........which if PJ!
