    I'm bummed I'm going to miss this. They are performing it live in San Diego, but I'm out of town for a week. I did get to see them at comic-con a few weeks ago which was fun. They riffed on a 50's short on lunchroom etiquette.

    The Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA is having a pretty cool thing on Jun. 2 called "Chaos at The Colonial". Joel Hodgson will be hosting it. He's a teacher at Bucks County Community College teaching a course about riffing.
    He and his students from Riff Camp 2012 are bringing some college level movie riffing to the Colonial Theatre in a Movie Riffing Battle Royale. Four groups will compete on stage riffing some truly horrible short films as the audience will decide who is the victor! Joel will also be screening one of his favorite MST3K episodes (I Accuse My Parents) and discussing it in a not so scholarly fashion after the live show.

Also, Joel "The Creator" faces off with Chris "The Ultimate Authority Sampo"Cornell during "Talking MST3K" followed by an audience Q&A. To wrap it all up, Joel will screen one of his favorite MST3K episodes (I Accuse My Parents) and discuss it in a not so scholarly fashion after the live show.

    this was pretty awesome last night. Joel Did a Q & A, also his students did a great job riffing on some videos. Real cool guy got his auto and kinda got my pic taken with him (have to ask the guy to e-mail me the pic). Also they played his fav MST3K episode which was I Accuse My Parents. I don't remember seeing that one but it was funny as hell. My friends co-hosted the event (You've got Geek), lucky bastards.

    I am so jealous at whoever got to go to this! 'I Accuse My Parents' is my all-time favorite MST3K episode! (well, tied with 'Girl in Gold Boots' and 'The Final Sacrifice) :D

    Just saw this thread. I used to love watching MST3K, but I have to admit, I cannot remember the names of the movies/ episodes- sorry. But that event sounds pretty cool and if they have one in NYC I'll have to check it out. glad to hear you had a blast!! Are you in the picture?

    I'll be there. Taking my son (he's 11). He's pretty excited for this. We got to see the Rifftrax crew at Comic-Con, and he's hooked. They are doing a live riff of Birdemic in October too.

    Tonight The Colonial Theater is having their bi-monthly MST3K thing. Joel Hodgson is going to be there doing an hour of "How To Have Job Like Mine" then few Q & A before the show and then he picked out an episode of MST3K which will be showed last.

    Poor Torgo. Such a sad story about the actor, John Reynolds. Wore his Satyr rigging backwards, caused knee damage, got addicted to pain pills during filming, and committed suicide before it was "released". Can you imagine dying because you made some shitty movie?

    Thank God for MST3K though, without it John Reynolds would have been lost to history, now he's a cult character. MST3K fans, with the blessing of his wife, even attempted to get him a star on the Walk Of Fame. Obviously that didn't happen, but it's the thought that counts. I'm sure while he was walking around in his backwards Satyr rigging, high on pain pills and muttering about the "Master", he probably never dreamed that one day he would be famous.

    Rifftrax was showing Starship Troopers tonight. Got to the theater and it was sold out :( Guess I should have ordered tix online. Funny thing the parking lot was not crowded at all and this movie theater is one of the best near me, King Of Prussia.

    the local public television station hosted a mst3k viewing party at a small theater a couple weeks ago here in minneapolis, and the show voted by attendees to be watched was (of course) manos. i wasn't aware until i got to the theater that joel hodgson had been added to the event to do a brief q+a beforehand, so that was a nice surprise. he signed some event posters and i was able to get one of those.

    watching manos with a knowledgable crowd was pretty damn fun. also, about a third of the way through the dvd kept feezing on a closeup of torgo's face, and the staff just could not get the movie to work past that point. the crowd started having fun with this, of course, as attempt after attempt to get the movie going just resulted in that same torgo close up. the movie was being shown using a laptop dvd drive, so after awhile they tried to get on the internet and watch the movie that way, but could not get logged on to a wireless network. finally, and i am not making this up, someone in the audience who had an apple iphone hotspot thing volunteered their connection, which worked!, and we ended up watching the rest of the movie on the big screen via youtube. of all the audiences for something like this to happen to, this one surely appreciated it the most.
