And I hear this girl talking politics, so I listen. She says, "I don't care how many things Obama does wrong, I still support him".

  • go figure...
  • I'm a liberal, and even I get ticked when people talk like that. It's just as bad as people saying they'll hate him no matter how much good he does. Neither mindset is very helpful.

eta: unsung, I'm still an Obama supporter for the most part, but your avatar really speaks cuts straight to the heart of his mistakes as I see them.

About 75% of our voting population strictly votes based by party... so can we please just admit it has little to do with party or political leaning and that nation is filled with idiots? Painting the "other side" as dumb while "your side" is any better is just as dumb.
    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
  • I've recently come to the opinion that regardless of party, most people basically support the same failed bureaucratic approach to governing. So long as the people in power are diehard bureaucrats, it doesn't matter which party they represent, it'll never actually be We the People.

Yeah, I'm always amazed when overhearing (or listening in  ) to people's political talk.

I've heard some insanely absurd things said (both left and right). I try my very best to bite my tongue...

People who blindly follow either party simply because it's "their party" frustrate the hell out of me. That person is just as bad as my father-in-law, who will defend Bush to the grave and said he "definitely did a better job than either of those other clowns (meaning Gore and Kerry) would've." I think he must have some magical powers - he crossed over to an alternate universe where Gore and Kerry won, and saw what a shambles it was. I think Kerry would've ended the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in a heartbeat - we could've sent him over there with a megaphone and told him to talk about whatever came to mind, and Bin Laden & Hussein would've surrendered in a heartbeat just to get him to shut up (Kerry = not the world's most inspiring and exciting public speaker).
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
