Matt Simmons: BP, CIA conspiracy theory suggested behind his unexpected death
August 11, 4:20 PMPolitical Spin ExaminerMaryann Tobin

Oil industry icon Matt Simmons became a household name during the BP oil spill crisis, partly because of his criticism of BP and their handling the worst oil spill in US history.

Simmons, 67, was found dead in his home in Maine on August 8, 2010. The medical examiner’s office is unclear about whether he had drowned in his tub after suffering a heart attack, or died from a heart attack while drowning.

Before his unexpected death, Simmons had become a whistle blower against BP and the US government. He used his oil industry and government connections to reveal information about the BP oil spill disaster that he claimed were deliberately hidden from the public.

The confusion surrounding the exact cause of his recent death has sparked reports that he was assassinated by either the CIA or BP.

would not surprise me in the least....our society outrages me where one does the right thing and blows the whistle on something or someone and they wind up dead under mysterious circumstances a short time later...i have a feeling that this is not a coincidence and had he said nothing he might be alive today...

I wouldn't doubt if it was true. God forbid the public knowing exactly what happened at the spill site...gotta keep the wool over our eyes for all it's worth, including shutting up a whistle blower. :(

they have secrets because they can not expect the population to act like adults if we knew the truth. if we knew what was really going on i am sure there would be mobs waiting to lynch those involved and riotingi n the streets....everything is a "state secret". secrets are a way of keeping the masses in check, and they lull us to sleep with the oh so comforting and soothing words of "everything is ok, things will be fine, go to sleep..."

This is almost expected….disgusting that nothing EVER comes of it.
Dead whistle-blower stories make it soooooo obvious how complicit the media is in big-business and CIA/govt operations.
Scandals like these would be HUGE for ratings or sales or individual careers, if the system functioned the way it’s supposed to….but, snooping around these stories could result in your own suicide, so thru both intimidation and complicity, they’re ignored…

Google David Hatfield, or Gary Webb, or David Kelly, or the DC Madame….all “suicided” IMO.
So many others I can’t think of right now….

Here’s a list, with links…the OP focuses on suspicious suicides only… looks like they were unable to keep editing the header post as others contributed, so there are many more if you scroll down.

Interesting…someone in that thread claims that Hunter S.Thompson was working on a book about the 04 election when he killed himself. Hadn’t heard that one…

Ya, the madam story is interesting, and one of the more obvious ones IMO…
But there is (allegedly) more to it than just a sex scandal involving politicians…

And the James Hatfield story is a perfect example of Karl Rove’s evil “genius”…..leak Bush’s cocaine charges to a criminal author, then use the media to discredit him and muddy the waters around the story…take him out and it’s over. Without this political maneuvering (read: murder), Junior likely never would have made it to the White House.

The US government did kill him. Judging by his photos, they ordered the FDA to take him out about 67 years ago. It was called Operation: Get a white fat dude a heart attack

Let's wait until the Wikileak guy goes up missing before starting the conspiracy theories. ;)

the wikileaks guy is not going anywhere for awhile. seriously jason, think about it...there is too much light on him. if he was found dead right now it would be obvious that someone in our government killed him or had him killed by someone. he will keep releasing things and keep his name out there because as soon as the public's eye is off of him he will have a heart attack, or die in a car wreck, or accidently shoot himself twice in the face, etc...

Typically (like I'm an expert on this subject ;) ) the government will "silence" those who are capable of spilling a secret. They are not really in the revenge business (unless you count W going after Saddam for trying to kill his daddy). This guy didn't work for BP, so he isn't a whistle blower. He made his accusations and they are on public record. So revenge would be the only motive and the risk/reward of silencing him isn't that enticing.

For example, I never heard of this guy until he died. If there is evidence of foul play in his death, then a huge spotlight will be cast down by the media and public. If I was running the CIA hit squad, I would look at these factors:

Does he possess insider information - No
Has he already made his opinions in public record - Yes
Is the general public listening or aware of this guy - No
Could this blow up in our face and ignite a media firestorm if we botch the hit up - Yes
Benefit of having this guy silenced - Marginal

In regards to the wikileak guy, the most dangerous thing he could do is hold onto those files. But now that everything has been released, he is no longer a threat . . . just a big asshole  .

Anyway, that is enough for a Friday morning. That is the great thing about conspiracy theries. It is sort of like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" of logical reasoning. :problem:

I believe you have all watched too many movies. I'm willing to bet this man simply had a heart attack while in the bathtub.

or so the Germans would have us believe....
    fixed ;)

Seriously tho, there are a lot of ways to make a death look natural... Governments and military have been working on poisons that do just that for decades (if not, centuries)...
the 2004 poisioning of Viktor Yushchenko and the difficulty doctors had diagnosing his ailment opened my eyes to designer poisons as assassination weapons...

I have no idea how valid the claims in this article are, as far as where VY's poison came from, but there is some interesting info about these programs in Russia.
    http://eng.maidanua.org/node/266
I also found some articles blaming the poison on American intelligence/labs....
We all know how the cold war turned out...if Russia is good at developing untraceable poisons...the US is probably better ;)

damn! I didn't look at the link, but I feel I don't have to. If these assassins and mob types keep playing god, then we may be back to how things were in Hitlerville. sad.

he could have been so stressed about the whole situation that it took a toll on his heart, but I still wouldn't rule out assassination.
