For all the Seattle people, here is your chance to see a living legend. His band is 2nd to none. Larry Campbell, Brian Mitchell and Jimmy Weider are all OUTSTANDING players. Lots of songs from The Band, some excellent Roots music from Levon's later stuff and of course there is always the chance of one or two Grateful Dead covers.

GO GO GO GO! Anyone who can, GO. Levon is a fucking master, a living legend. His band is incredible. I've been fortunate enough to see them a few times this summer and in years past. Genius at work. And last friday I fucking ran into him on the street in San Francisco. I just about died. Instead I started jumping up and down and yelling Levon Helm, Levon Fucking Helm. I went up to him with tears in my eyes and he gave me a hug, and was so charming and excited to "see a young person so into his music" I told him he was my father's rock God and that I was going to his show the following day. He told me he would look for me. I pretended to calm down, we talked for a few minutes and he gave me another hug.

I totally fucking geeked out on Levon Helm and it was one of the best moments of my life.

Cool story. The man is definitely a treasure.

He certainly is. I get chills and goosebumps everytime I think of that moment. Amazing.

My brother has worked for Levon for many years. Levon is as gentle and kind as any human being I have ever met. I have been privileged to have been front row at a few of his shows. Larry Campbell is an absolute master musician. The rest of the band are the best in the business. Imagine, Donald Fagan as a keybord player and back up vocalist? How sick is that?
I am always suggesting to his staff that they get Ed up to one of his midnight rambles. That would be a once in a lifetime event!

Agreed on all of the above. Larry Campbell and Donald Fagan are incredible. I never want the show to stop.

I've always wanted Ed to sing I Shall Be Released, and Ed at a ramble, that may be too much for me to handle. Levon and Ed together- I would probably explode. My parents just bought a cabin about 20 minutes from his place in Woodstock. I think the reason they bought that one is because it is 20 minutes from his place in Woodstock- they both believe they will become best friends with Levon. The drooling fanatic rock stalker gene is strong in my family. I am just really excited to finally go to a ramble.

They will love it here. Levon is a very accessible musician so chances are, they will at least meet him. The Rambles are great so they will be hooked on them in no time. Any time I am there, I can just imagine Ed singing No War or The End, then sitting in with his trusty Uke. He would fit in that environment.

Thinking about hitting the Midnight Ramble in January. Sounds like an awesome time. Definitely worth it?
