  • Flight attendants facebook page, mentions his alcoholism and drug abuse battles......

    Im shocked.....

didn't you go nuts on the message board a few weeks ago and start abusing someone? that's the worst abuse i have ever seen directed at anyone in quite a few years of posting and you only got a couple of weeks ban.

why don't you post you facebook page and we can all sit around and try and figure out what your problem was?

    Did I go nuts??

    No I didnt...

I responded to somebody who decided to throw insults at me for no reason.

Now lets get back to the story here.....

This DING-A-LING flight attendant, is now facing criminal charges....right???
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
  • Again...

Flight attendant who admits to serious alcohol and drug problems...
Curses out passenger using planes intercom.....
Steals a couple cans of beer.....
Uses emergency evacuation system to exit plane......
    Runs to his car.......
    Is arrested at home.....

And this guy is a hero in some peoples eyes??????

fuck the airline, they can afford a 6 pack don't you think? and fuck the passenger, if he has no respect someone in the service industry than too bad.

the dude gets on the intercom, tells an asshole to fuckoff, grabs a sixpack and exits in style. props to him. the rest has nothing to do with it.
  • I disagree with the "props to him"...

He is a trained professional??? Right???

    How about this scenario....

    I am on that plane...

I see this guy get on the intercom and start cursing out passengers....Then he grabs some beers....Then he activates the emergency exit....

    Thats where the scenario changes....

Lets say I see all this happen...And I decide this guy is a fucking NUT and think he might be a danger to all the passengers on the plane, because OBVIOUSLY this isnt the behavior you would expect from an employee of the airline....

So I decide to jump out of my seat, grab this lunatic by the throat, and throw him to the ground, until the authorities arrive......

Would I be at fault?? Because i thought this guy was a lunatic??? Would I have made the right decision by throwing him to the ground and holding him there until some type of authorities arrived????

that didn't happen though did it.

the flight attendant was talking to one passenger. the one passenger that had abused him and called him a "motherfucker."

the bit i highlighted from the article you posted, said his neighbors said he was a nice guy but he had been under stress because his mother had been diagnosed with cancer and was not doing so great and his actions were out of character.

people act out of character when they are suffering from stress. he has been in that occupation for 20 years. don't you think that if his behaviour had been inappropriate before this event, that the airline would still have him working for them in that capacity? of course not.

and do you usually consider grabbing people by the throat when security or safety of others is not at risk?
because according to the airline "At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk."

So it is ok to cause property damage on your way out of a job? How much did it cost the airline to put that emergency door and slide back together? That had to cost Jet Blue right?

If that is ok then I guess I can walk into my office tomorrow and tell everyone I quit, break the window out and toss my computer out?

Passenger was still a class A asshole though. I hate people who think they are so important that the rules don't apply to them.

Bottom line though is that flight attendant did what he did and now he has to face the consequences.

Doesn't matter what the cost is, or how much the company makes. This link says it is around $10,000 plus the cost of the plane being out of service. http://nycaviation.com/2010/08/09/jetblue-flight-attendant-quits-spectacularly-after-fight-with-passenger/

He still damaged company property and they are going to make him pay for it. You can't take an action like that without consequences is all I am saying. This is a corporation after all. He should know you can't cause $10,000 worth of damage to company property and walk away.

Was it funny? Sure, it was funny and kudos to him for that. But thinking he is just going to get away with it is naive on his part. No matter if everyone thinks he is a "hero" (he isn't), that company is going to go after him and he'll probably be a convicted felon by the time this is over.

I'd like to see what happens if I do $10,000 worth of damage to my office.

And again, the passenger was a complete asshole too.

it is very easy for you and others to monday morning quarterback this situation. the guy was emotional and angry and hurt when he left so i doubt that all of these things that you are mentioning in your post even crossed his mind. have you ever been in a situation where you just needed to get the fuck out of there? i have plenty of times. in the middle of a fight or flight situation you don't really have time to consider the cost of your actions. neither humans or anything else in the animal kindom are wired like that. when you need to get out of that situation you just get out of it any way you can.

I understand that, sure. But that is not going to absolve him of his responsibility either. Lots of people do lots of things when emotional and angry and end up regretting it and paying for it. He will too.
