Would you pay to stay at such a thing?

A place that would provide you with an excellent breakfast and a ride to and from the show... A PJ friendly environment... one of posters and music and other people that shared a similar interest...

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in such a thing.

    Plastic ones, of course.

Sounds great to me and we're not B&B people. This would be an exception. ;) Are you thinking of opening one? :)

that's funny. I can just picture little forrest showing Eddie his dance moves, after eddie plays breath for him - "step out on your porch, run away my son, see it all, see the world...."

Yes, I am. I'm close to the city of Chicago.

I have the room and I LOVE showing people a good time.

I could easily fit 20+ people in my home... I would expect respect for my property but in return you would have a KICK ASS PJ TIME.. food and drink... PJ videos and music 24/7... safe transportation to and from the venue... other PJ loving people...

Just wondering if people would pay for an experience like that...

As a giant PJ fan from Indianapolis, I must say I love this idea. I would find an excuse to stay there any time I was in the vicinity of Chicago.

nope.. no more than I would charge fellow jammers to stay over.

it's all about sharing, anyone making a profit whether it be poster flippers, ticket touts or something like that I don't want to know.

I kind of agree, but I kind of don't.. and here's why.

Sharing, yes.. is an amazing thing. Especially among Jammers, but keeping the place open, driving people to and from the venues, all the food, everything that he would go through, that all costs money. I'm sure he wouldn't charge a ridiculous amount of money, I'm sure it would be more like a B+P (in the sense that all costs are taken care of by the customer, and not much more)

Sorry, it's 6 in the morning, and that might not have made the slightest bit of sense, the point was suppose to be.. I'm sure he would make it all free if he could, but it would cost a lot of money to pick the idea up and do something with it. I, personally, wouldn't expect to stay at someones place, eat their food and get rides and stuff from them for free :)

Plus, if I were to pay for something like this.. I'd rather it be from an actual Pearl Jam fan, and not just someone trying to score a buck.. hat's why I think it's a good idea :)

Don't you ever stay in a hotel? I would love to stay somewhere that has PJ all over the place. :) It would feel just like home. ;)

  • HELL YES! I'm such an idiot!

Wait. How much would it cost? Only if they give you good food, like you said.

...and Jeff Ament personally delivered you your breakfast. Hmmm. ;)

    i did that already.

meaning the experience of toledo 04' for the vote for change tour.

the hotel had a bar / restaraunt at the top floor- all glass - overlooking the river and the venue across the river just off in the distance.

little did we know we would be seeing young neil that night .

needless to say it was pretty packed with people for the big show .

the breakfast part is kinda absent since i hopped a plane early the next morning back to new jersey.

    but it was close .

    :)

not if I can help it :) ..hostels, bus, camping, car, someone's floor..you don't do many shows if you stay in hotels, not on my wages.

oh, and I don't consider chipping in with the costs (directly or through gifts) paying, I call it good manners ;)
The way it was presented, I see a commercial venture with a profit in mind.

to that I say no I won't pay, the way I wouldn't have bought the Hawaii/London/Munich packages even if I had the money.

    Hey Debbie Downer--

Who said anything about making a profit? Did you read the part where I said it would be at least 20 people? I don't know about you but I can't afford to feed, drink, smoke and transport that many people. Plus--- knowing how some people travel, we're probably talking about a big BBQ the night before the show, too.

lol--did you really think I would charge for electricity, water and a bed? I was thinking more along the lines of tents, air mattresses and couches... any costs would be for food and liquor.

I will probably stick to my usual Jammer friends (which I don't charge, btw)... silly me for thinking 'the more the merrier'.

    IMHO...

Even if it were a business as you first suggested, there is no shame in that. I think it is a great idea, and we are all looking for a way to make a buck. Money is necessary to live, and there is no shame in trying to go into business for yourself. Better you make the profits than working for a corporation who pays you far less than you earn them.

If you were to open this B&B, and charge folks for a night as many B&Bs do, there is no problem with that. Anyone who gives you grief is speaking very idealistcally. Sure, ideally, we would be able to all do for others, and not charge people for something like this... but let's face it, if you are looking to make a dollar, you crossed from idealism to reality.

Rather than let people piss in your cornflakes, I say you consider following your dream. Just know that sometimes we get a little skewed because we live in a world where Pearl Jam is important to us, and we surround ourselves with many things Pearl Jam. My concern for your idea is simply that there might not be as big a target audience for your B&B to maintain year-round. If you are simply looking to do this around shows, then I think you are going to be fine those couple of nights that the boys are in town.

Nevermind the naysayers... I say follow your heart and give it a try.

    Good Luck...

    PEACE!!!
For those who scoff at "Jamily" in my name... 9 years ago, when my first daughter was born there were jokes about whether my priority would be my family or PJ. I smiled and quipped "I am a JamilyMan." What was a family joke became a hated term among jammers. Didn't see that one coming!
  • I just stayed at a gorgeous B&B in Sandwiche MA, right on the ocean.
It wouldn't be hard to imagine it would be named Oceans, and each room would have it's own name... Release, Garden, Light years, Driftin,(ect.)
In the foyer, they would play softly in the background PJ "strings". In the halls, framed rare posters, with impossible front row ticks. All types of memorabilia from the early years to current.
Okay I seriously could go on and on and on...
If I could be anything in the world I would be your teardrop...I would be born in your eyes, live on your cheeks, and die on your lips.

yes I did really think you were talking about charging people from the way you formulated it.
you didn't say participate, chip-in or even 'pay for expenses'...you said PAY, as in buy.

    so to "would you pay for a B&B PJ-themed", I say no, I wouldn't.

if the question is "would you like to stay over with a bunch of other fans at a fan's place (and, of course, participate in paying your food/drink/transport)", hell yeah, doing it as much as possible! best way to tour! :D
and loved having people cramming in my little flat for Wembley ..actually was disappointed when some originally planned bailed out :(
