the idea of a portable turntable is laughable... the vinyl alone is still bigger and more fragile than anything i would wanna bring to a picnic :|

For me vinyl is an intimate thing..I welcome it being more difficult than just pushing play..I've never purchased a record thinking how nice it would be if I could take this outside and listen on the sidewalk.

In 1970 I had a battery operated turntable made by Ford/Philco. I noticed this ad said the first Crosley battery operated truntable and not the first battery operated turntable, because its not the first battery operated turntable.
I had mine back in the day before cassettes. I usually used it at the beach.
It was the size of what tape recorders were back then, about 8 inches by 5 inches, maybe a bit smaller.
