Pearl Jam's New Intro: "Metamorphosis Two"

There has been a few threads asking what the intro music for PJ's 2008 tour was - well, its been said many times - its "Metamorphosis Two"

My question is why do you think it was changed for Master/Slave? What the the significance of this piece of music to the band? There must be a reason.....

    Thye band have used many different songs as intro music over the years.

    I remember hearing Aye Davanita in 98. I know they've used an orchestral Baba O'Riley. In addition to M/S, in 06 they used that little ditty at the end of Inside Job to bring them on stage. I'm sure there are many others.

    My guess is that they simply wanted something different.

    Personally I would love to get my hands on a copy of Mburu's version of Small Town that brought Eddie on stage in Chicago. Awesome.

    I'm guessing the Philip Glass was Aments call. he seems to be into instrumental works a lot. He name drops Mogwai in a lot of interviews and they've been used at a good bunch of PJ shows as well.
