I don’t know if it “empty” because Obama actually expanding offshore drilling rights. But in hindsight, it was / is a very foolish slogan.

"American troop levels in Iraq will drop from about 80,000 to 50,000 by the end of August in accordance with an agreement between the US and Iraqi governments. The remaining troops will carry out support functions for the Iraqi military and US diplomats. The US has agreed to remove all troops from the country by the end of 2011."

U.S. Troop levels in Iraq in 2008 was about 145,000.
By the end of 2009... about 90,000.
145,000 to 90,000 to 80,000 to 50,000... sounds kind of like a reduction in force, doncha think?

The funniest thing is when you hear politicians say, 'Politicians just don't get it'.
Then say, 'The American people get it'.
    ...
And... the American people eat it up... but, don't figure out that the "IT", they are talking about?
Means, "Getting screwed in the ass".

It's all nonsense. It's all empty lies spoken to get elected(or re-elected), maintain power and the status quo.
    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

The other thing I like... how the term, 'Patriotism' is bantied about by politicians and pundits.
From 2001 to 2008, it was Patriotic to stand with the President during wartime... and unpatriotic to voice dissent.
    From 2009, Dissent is Patriotic.
    What has changed?
Someone needs to expalin this to me and how it works... because I don't understand the difference.

nowadays the term "patriotism" could easily be changed to "hatriotism"....
