it's pretty obvious that there are people posting here with strong views on certain issues, and i'm wondering how many of you have ever let your voices be heard directly to your congressmen on those issues that you are so passionate about?

the politicans were appointed to do a job on our behalf. i don't know about you guys, but i am far from happy with the direction the country is headed in. they are our voice and they are supposed to be trying to affect change in the things that we care about. we have to make them more responsible for doing that, and the only way we can is by letting them know directly how we feel. we need to make them more accountable.

i'm fairly active off the message board in those issues i am passionate about, because rather than focusing all of my energy on complaining, I try to see what things I can do to affect change.

for those not sure where to start, at the very least please think about contacting your representatives and tell them how you feel.

I write them but with my two Senators being in Obama's back pocket, and DICK Durbin being one of the most liberal, I know I won't get results. I tried to kindly debate some of DICK Durbin's email replies but he ignores everything. He does keep asking me to stop by for coffee though.

I've wrote my Senator a letter and did get a form-letter response back a few months later. I think letters are more effective with your local State Representatives who actually might open them up.
