    Haha. It's pretty obvious.

    It's Pearl Jam songs that are also other songs by other bands.

    Pearl Jam has a song called Brother, so does Alice In Chains.
    Pearl Jam has a song called Other Side, so does Red Hot Chili Peppers.

    Maybe he means "the band knew those titles already existed by other artists, but didn't think of them when they wrote the songs"? Just a guess, though...

    I think it's kind of a play on how we are all-knowing. It's a little tough to explain, but I do get the OP's thread title. Like...Pearl Jam may or may not have consciously known that they were naming their songs the same as other bands named theirs but subconsciously everyone is all-knowing so they must have known. They didn't think about it at the time, but they still KNEW it. Hence, unthought known. Make sense?

    There was a thread on here a while back around the time Backspacer was coming out explaining the story behind the term "Unthought Known." It was basically an article. Would love to read that again if anyone can find it, that would clear it up I'm sure.
