Anyone notice there are a lot of oil spills lately we are hearing about?
is it eco-warfare? Are other countries sending in special ops to sabotage our energy supply, and destroy our environment? Destroy the American psyche from within?
Or is it environmental groups intentionally enacting disaster after disaster to prove they are right in their battle against the big polluters? What better aid to their agendas than a big ugly oil spill or 5? Why would they do this, create the very thing they fight against? (think of pawns in a chess game)
why are violations passed over, why are they commonplace? Why does big gov. not do more to stop the blatant mishandling of things???
Or is it just pure accident?
no facts here just posing questions to start conversation. I do not support or believe any one thought so don;t attack me, comment on the idea...try actually giving a reason.

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
any excuse to send out the military right?
its typical.
I find that highly unlikely in relation to the big one in the gulf. If the Soviet had still been there and the cold war still on, then maybe. As it is now, noone really benefits from small-time sabotage of a nation's oil supply. Too little gain, and much too heavy risk if caught.
Again, highly unlikely on any significant scale. If they were to sabotage oil (which some of them may be liable to do), they sure as hell wouldn't do it like that. Again, too high a cost for too little gain. A huge oil spill is precisely opposed to their agenda, so that doesn't really aid them. But surely, when stuff like this happens, they are all over it, and giving it maximum coverage and importance. As a sidenote I might say that there are more than enough ecological disasters out there, so they dont really need to make their own.
Violations as in violations of regulations and such I presume? Well, you just need a pro-business attitude among the regulators to allow for that. As big as big gov is, it can't be everywhere, nor pay attention to everything. And if they also have the attitude not to interfere with business (business is good for growth etc etc), which I note is enormously widespread among american politicians and public, they might not be looking too hard either.
Not so much a pure accident as a calculated risk that blew up in their faces.
My reason is I dont see anyone benefitting enough to make the sabotage scenario on the big one in the gulf very likely. You can always find someone benefitting from an event. As complex as the economy and politics is, someone will always have an advantage whatever the outcome. So, it doesn't cross the threshold of probable cause and likelihood for me.
