Sometimes PJ comes out and goes straight into song, others they kind of get ready and Ed will say something before going into song.

What is your favorite opening line?

My favorite was MSG 2 going into Corduroy "And awaaaayyy we go"

Others have just been simple like hartford I think... "Gooddd Evening"

MSG 1 "thanks for coming, You ready?"

I'll have to think of a PJ line, but I saw The Who in Hershey, PA in 2002 and that show started with Pete walking to the mic and saying....,

"Fuck off, all of ya" then rips into I Cant Explain
    I've met Rob

    DEGENERATE FUK

    This place is dead

"THERE ARE NO CLIQUES, ONLY THOSE WHO DON'T JOIN THE FUN" - Empty circa 2015

    "Kfsbho&$thncds" - F Me In the Brain - circa 2015

My favorite was the final Spectrum show. Ed came out and said, "Here we go...This is it!" and then they went right into Why Go. Gives me chills every time I hear the boot.

Agreed it instantly reminds me of the feeling of being there and the excitement and build up to start the show

Camden 98 Night 1, 2nd song (first words spoken though) before Corduroy, sounded like he said "All aboard" like it was a rocket ship taking off. Sure as hell was.

    "Good Evening" is the classic
    other favorites were

    "Good Evening Campers" - ACL

"Let's Do This!" start of electric set, the experiment in Boston

and the best ever (my first show):
".....We’re going to try something a little bit different tonight. I’m anticipating the songs to be played better tonight then they ever have been played, and maybe, I just have this feeling there’s going to be more songs tonight then we’ve ever played. OK having said that relax, it’s all about your ears, the air around you, enjoy yourself."
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Tutman8, thanks for the reminder, was also there for that. The way he says "it's beeen a long time", the twang in his voice is very cool.

I can't remember if there were words spoken before LBC at Hershey, but the first non song line I remember is immediately after LBC: "lets go! Fuck this fucking chocolate factory."

My personal favourite is from when i first saw them back at glasgow cathouse 1992, unfortunatly there isn't a boot of this show, that i'm aware of anyway.

but being right at the barrier, i saw when the guys walked out, to the packed club and i saw ED look out on his way up the steps and say "wow" to himself,

before they play a note ED says he usually gets the sound guy to record each show for him, but he forgot to give him his walkman recorder, or whatever recorder he had, so asked the crowd if they could hand it back to him, so the crowd pass it over their heads to the sound man, to which ED replies.
"thats so now i know i can trust you" or something like that, then begin playing.

Don't know if that counts, but it always sticks with me.
