RVM without Ed playing guitar, great version from '93

Found this gem of RVM from San Jose 1993, just as the song begins it seems as though Ed gets an electric shock from the mic. The current was jumping from his guitar to the mic through his mouth, ouch!.. In classic '90s Ed mode he tosses the guitar and proceeds to rip an awesome version of Rearviewmirror sans the guitar, I think it sounds great and cannot tell the difference sound wise from when he plays guitar. Another interesting bit about this performance is the chorus at the end, Stone is singing his "once you" part while Ed is singing his album version part. Ed screams Rearviewmirror (like on the album version).

I'm really digging the chorus at the end where Eddie is screaming "Rearviewmirror".... Just like the album version, I like a lot.

With regards to the sound without the extra guitar, there's only one short part where I could notice.

the ONE song I've prayed to be on the setlist for any of the gigs I've attended... but I never got it... :(
I'd take it with 3 guitars, I'd take it with Eddie just waiving to the crowd, I'd take it with any posible way...

Pretty cool. At least they have gotten better at breaking stuff in their later years. Do you remember Mike trying to break his guitar at the '94 MTV awards? It was brutal to watch.

hahahaaaa it was 93 ... IMO ed wasn't trying all that hard to break his guitar..

notice he lays it down nice and easy in front of the equipment after he swings it around a bit ? looks to me like he thought better of totally destroying it after the initial rage was past hahahhaaahhahaaa 8-)

the guys probably weren't blessed with a rack of 150 guitars waiting off stage fo them at that point in their careers

I ALSO notice that it's the exact SAME spot where Ed STILL lays down all the equipment after he's done using and/or abusing it on stage. All of it. And wine..and cigs...and his little black book with the torn pages and the papers stuffed into it (when he's not using it) and his water bottle..and whatever's in that mug all the time

    funny to me

I really wish bands these days were this good. I mean, I love Pearl Jam, but I really wish I could diversify. Unfortunately no other band does it like PJ.

there's always the OLD Grateful Dead....when Jerry was alive, may he RIP.
That's my alternative selection to PJ.
It doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to in the past.
But from time to time, one needs a good dose of The Dead.

I would truly wish that Eddie just cannot get that angry over little things any more.
That was cool at the time, to watch, I mean, but man, to live with that rage inside of you....
noooooooooo... that must have been a hard way to live
glad things have turned out much better for him

i think we all have something more profound to say when we're angry
and i agree that his writing back then was great
    and his shows were great
but his insides were all torn up
if he had kept on like that
he might have gone the way of kurt cobain
    jim morrison
or other great angry young men
and then where would we be?
