Allowing businesses and corporations to donate without any cap is one of the worst decisions we have made. This is just the beginning.

I do find it ironic that Pearl Jam's business partner is the first major corporation to make a large contribution to a political candidates cause . . . and he just so happens to be republican.

ugh... I'm guessing that they donated the money because the PAC does other work in areas that are pro-business... but apparently Target didn't do their research, because I bet they wouldn't have given $150k if they knew it was going towards this.

    Definitely looks bad on them...

That's the danger with donating money to a PAC, where they turn around and fund all sorts of issues/candidates.

There is no such thing as a "good" corporation...it's typical that Target gets caught donating to an organization that's not good in everyone's eyes. Because that's what corps do.
  • that's weird because i just had a bad feeling about target the other day. i was talking to somebody about how i avoid walmart on principle and that i generally prefer target since i've never heard anything bad about them, corporate crime- or policy-wise. but then i had second thoughts and figured i should probably look into target's history.
$150,000 from Target's coffers, through a political action committee (PAC) known as Minnesota Forward, all the way to Tom Emmer, who himself supports a Christian rock band in Minnesota that travels around the state saying that it's moral and righteous for religious people to kill gays and lesbians
i guess this was all i needed to know, though.
    that's faarkokte.

first off, no they didn't donate the money based on Tom Emmers stance on gay marriage.

Corporations ARE NOT PEOPLE. They donated money to the PAC Minnesota Forward for economic reasons. We have a huge budget problem in Minnesota even though we have one of the highest state tax rates in the country. Both Mark Dayton, and Matt Entenza are bad for business, especially corporations. Just like anyone else, they need to choose the best candidate that supports their needs, it doesn't mean that the company agrees with everything a candidate stands for.
Target has and always will be a big supporter of the GLBT community.
I am not a big fan of tom emmers at all, but lets not make this into something it isn't
