Bought a copy at Starbucks, same as the version on "Dead man Walking". Nice mix of music.

Not that I'm going to buy it but just curious I guess: Is it the short version or the long version? There was a mostly-orchestral Dead Man Walking soundtrack released in addition to the one with the "pop" songs that had The Face of Love and Long Road in super-extended dance remixes. (just joking on the dance part, but they were like 10 or 14 minutes long)

Sitting in Starbucks now. Just picked up the soundtrack. I literally got sick to my stomach when I saw Long Road was included as well. I've tried to ponder my reaction and I think it has more to do with bringing PJ to the masses, many of whom may not appreciate it as so many of us do. Then I thought....so what? It doesn't make the music any less special to me and should they join the 10C, I'll still have a better number :)

While I'm not so sure it is a shitty movie, because the book was "ok", it does star Julia Roberts which annoys the sh*t out of me because I think she is a lousy actress even though she may be a good person.

However, I must correct u in that the target market for EPL is not "menopausal women" -- but probably a little younger than that. HOWEVER, just suppose this WAS a market that PJ was trying to reach via their music...what exactly is your problem with that? Last I checked, women were human beings as well; some of whom can actually appreciate and enjoy PJ's music and all the other things PJ represents. Also, keep in mind the average age of beloved band members, closer to menopausal than you might realize.

Just think it may be time to just take a deep breath on this one.

He's probably afraid that they'll start making music specifically for that demographic, next.

Wish my local(s) Starbucks in the East Coast had this EV related soundtracks @ their shops. We missed out on that Collectors Edition Into The Wild CD release they had. :(

I've gotten the impression that Eat,Pray,Love was the estrogen version of Into The Wild. Self-discovery, etc., etc.

They might play Long Road more often now. Will it have the same meaning? Yeah, right.

Outrage? Right here. This soccer mom is tired of the gender-bashing. I am willing to bet that I rock out harder than all the board members with Y chromosomes who use "Even Flow" as their piss break. Some of us "menopausal" women were slam-dancing long before "moshing" became the rage. Some of us could not name a John Mayer song to save our lives. Some of us lodge protests when Celine Dion is played at the gym, because that's music our grandmothers listen to.

I have ZERO interest in this movie, due to the book on which it is based, and due to the fact that it stars Julia Roberts. However, the soundtrack looks pretty damn good, and I might buy it. I love "Better Days," have always had a soft spot for jangly music (hence my decades-long devotion to the Church). "Long Road" is an awesome song, why not reach a wider audience with it?

I could make sweeping generalizations about men based on the unseemly comments you are making about women, but that would be unfair. Please, chill out. Thank you. 8-)

Oh yes, I have some sort of terrible vendetta against all women

talk to the people that use these stereotypes to sell crappy movies... i wouldnt pick up on it if it didnt exist right in the trailers...

I have a problem with PJ taking any part in this Sex and the City 2 / Into the Wild hybrid... especially now that they've tainted a classic IMO

So... I should assume that adult American males act like Adam Sandler, because the stereotype is right there in the trailer?? Just because Hollywood chooses to insult our intelligence like that, we are not obligated to accept it as reality.

Seriously, I do not know if Julia Roberts still has any box-office clout. And, more seriously, the women I know -- all mothers, all well-educated and well-off, most older than I, so late 40s- early 50s -- have no interest in seeing the movie, and little respect for the book on which it is based. I've been introducing them to a lot of PJ, too. 8-)

Whether or not I go see the movie, and whether or not you are excited/happy about the movie, it should be pretty obvious to all of us by now that Ed and the rest of the guys enjoy doing whatever the hell they want to do, and they are not inclined to consult any of us for our opinions. It also seems to me that Ed has come out in the past in support of women's rights, and he has not done a lot of macho posturing. I don't find this move terribly shocking. It's not as if KISS decided to contribute songs to the soundtrack.

Yes, Eat Pray Love is a chick flick but no it is not for menopausal woman.

I bet the majority of woman (of all ages) will like it and maybe a few guys whose wives or girlfriends drag them to the theater to see it. So Eddie puts 2 of his songs on the soundtrack...it is not a big deal.

I read the book and kept sputtering aloud and slamming it shut on the train on my commute back and forth to work. I found it highly irritating. I'm sorry, you have the time and money to spend an entire year traveling to the most wonderful places, having the most wonderful adventures, and you whine, whine, whine about a guy?!? At one point, I turned to another commuter and said, "I can't believe this shit."

(And I wonder why I get funny looks on the train.)

I'll probably see the movie, just to find out if I was totally wrong about the book. At least Julia Roberts makes me giggle with that ginormous horsey laugh of hers.

i think this film has somewhat of a theme that eddie can get behind... travel, adventure, throwing it all away etc... plus one of his good friends is in the film- javier bardem. im cool with eddie putting 2 songs on it.
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
