What makes music music?

...was having a stoned philosophical debate about this last night...is it art? is singing just a form of talking? can anyone do it if they practiced? Basically the debate turned into is music just noise that appeals to somebody and not others? what is your take?

I think it's a lot of things. And take my silly list however you want to because I feel foolish even answering the question! :?

(No, not everyone can do it because some people have AWFUL voices and lack good ears for matching sound.)
It's an art form
it's a form of communication
it's a mating ritual for humans
it's what emotions sound like
it's expression without words (when it's purely instrumental)
it's a message carrier
it's something that sustains us through difficult times
it's something that carries joy during wonderful times
(it's more, but now I have to go out to dinner.) !!
