So I've got this idea!

I have only joined the Ten Club recently but have been freeloading for years. Way back I came across the Brian Randal Shaffer thread (the Ten Club member who went missing) and it stuck with me, as do all the rapes and abductions.
Many people go missing every year and many are harmed by people they have just met, I have come up with a simple idea that could ensure a persons personal security in situations such as abductions.
I sent the idea along with papers I was asked to sign, off to a large American company, they had it for a couple of months and then replied that they were not interested in pursuing the idea with me at this time, no reasons were given.
The way I look at it is if they steal it, develop it and put it out into society, okay so I've lost on the financial front but at least the idea is out there keeping people safe.
On the other hand if somebody looked at it and discarded it, that would be even worse because I believe in it.
I am at a loss on how to proceed, it will make money but that is secondary, parking in my head it is useless.
It is simple, does not require huge investment and will make life more sociable because of the safety aspect.

Why don't I develop it? I have been in engineering my whole life and taking it to market is a whole new ball game, plus engineers are not known for their diplomacy.
Any entrepreneurs, go getter's or constructive suggestions please.

Interesting post. To start with I'd recommend you confirm you are indeed the only one with this idea. Do you have a patented or have you copyrighted your technology/idea? Being an engineer I would assume you've already taken care of that. From there it would really depend on how you want to bring this idea to the public.

From what I get there are two options, private sector or government. Stay away from government as it will never end up seeing the light of day. Go with the private sector but focus on an organization that holds true community values and philanthropic views - I'm not sure where you are but investors are everywhere if you have the right connections.

PM me and we can discuss further.
