I was at both nights, and at Night 2 the crowd sang an extra "someday we'll go all the way" in the first chorus break, and I don't hear that in this version that they released.

Don’t let anyone say, that it’s just a game
I’ve seen other teams and it’s never the same
When you’re born in Chicago, you’re blessed and you’re healed
The first time you walk into Wrigley Field
Our heroes with pinstripes, heroes in blue
Give us the chance to feel like heroes do
Whoever will win and if we should lose
We know someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, some day we’ll go all the way
We are one with the Cubs, with the Cubs we’re in love
Hold our heads High as the underdogs
We are not fair-weather but foul weather fans
Like brothers in arms in the streets and the stands
There’s magic in the ivy and the old scoreboard
The same one I stared at as a kid keepin’ score
In a world full of greed I could never want more
Someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way
Yeah, someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way
And here’s to the men and the legends we’ve known
Teaching us faith and giving us hope
United we stand and united we’ll fall
Down to our knees the day we win it all
Ernie Banks said “oh let’s play two”
But did he meant two hundred years
In the same ballpark our diamond our jewel
The home of our joy and our tears
Keeping traditions and wishes made new
The place where our grandfathers’ fathers they grew
Spiritual feeling if I ever knew
And if you ain't been I am sorry for you
When the day comes with that last winning run
And I’m crying and covered in beer
I’ll look to the sky and know I was right
To play someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way
Someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way
Yeah, someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way, yeah, someday we’ll go all the way
(And believe me, as a Cubs fan, I heard this at the Vic, where he forgot the lyrics, it was the one song I was looking forward to hearing most at the solo shows. It really captures the spirit and optimism of being at Wrigley and gives me shivers every time at 'United we stand and united we’ll fall
Down to our knees the day we win it all')

After comparisons, I'd agree fully with night 1.
As a lifelong Cubs fan who was lucky enough to go to the Vic show I felt like the luckiest person ever when Eddie stumbled through the first ever performance, i mean, come on, my favorite band playing an amazing small show in my hometown and there's a cubs song, i thought it was a dream. I thought it was going to be a one and done. But when Eddie announced the east coast solo tour, I expected it at least on of the two Chicago shows, we got both and it was great. Here's where my problem starts. Is this going to be the next "go cubs go." As an actual fan of Cub's baseball, not wrigley or the merch, i can see this song falling in the hands of the Cubs marketing team (who will sell just about anything they can get a logo on) and becoming a Cubs anthem so they can sell some cd's even if they have to give a portion to charity. I can already picture the d-bags at wrigley singing it and guys selling shirts with lines or a pic of eddie in a cubs hat. It will probably encourage even more fair-weather fans. Please don't let this happen. Also hearing the song for the third time on the radio today, i am becoming less of a fan of the song. There are some great lines, but some pretty sappy ones too. I can see myself hating this song before the playoffs even start and i don't hate any pj songs, well except evacuation.
Darkest Hour wrote a song for the Washington Capitals. I think they just took a song of theirs and changed it a little. Still pretty awesome, especially if you like hockey.

Get over it dude. Business is Business and The Cubs are in the money making business. I felt the same as you until the compaints started. I was at the Vic and both solo shows and felt like the luckiest person in the world. PJ and the cubs together.
I dont see this song lasting very long since the key verse is "Someday we'll go all the way" and that someday is soon so after October 27th (Game 5 at Wrigley) the song will not have any substance since the lyric will need to be changed to "Someday we'll go all the way again"
Lets stay positive and IT'S GONNA HAPPEN
I hope it is against the white sox too!

I have the same issue....there is just no way I can allow myself to like this song.

night 2: hold our head high as the underdogs

Have you thanked a taper today?
Why is this such a big topic of which night. I assume people are listening to the boots to detect any changes in lyrics to tell which night.
I am just enjoying the song about my Cubbies!!! I hope I hear it this weekend in wrigleyville.
