The next record...
With all the talk about "hiatus" and "splitting" recently, which I know is bull, I thought I would just post on here about something Ed says just beofre Of The Earth during the Hyde Park 2010 show. he says "....if this goes down here we'll stick it on the next record"... maybe they will, maybe they won't but it sure as hell doesn't sound like a band of the verge of retirement.
Forgive me if this has bee mentioned before and the fact that its all been laid to rest but I have been away for a little while

My two boys are the light of my life.

Give me some more tour
preferably P P T S !!
All I think he's doing is speaking for the rest of the band (as well as himself), like, you never know what the future brings, so they don't want to make any predictions or promises. But it seems they're still very much into playing together and writing together and recording together, so...bring on album # 10! (and please include "Of the Earth"!)
1995 - 1998 - 2003 - 2006 - 2009. So hope to see them out here again in 2011 or 2012.
I can't wait for the new record and tour.

I think Ed knows that 'of the Earth' was well received across the boards, and is being a tease.
As for 'announcement', I think it is a bit due to Ed's body language that people took it more seriously this time. You remember that the posters from Portugal concert were upset at first, and when you watch the video, Ed looks kind of sad, and it sounds final. He was speaking Portugese, and used body language to convey it better, and at the end, probably due to him being tired & not knowing how harsh the message sounds, he missed to add a touch of humour, a gesture or something, and here we are.
On the other hand, this gives Ed freedom to have all sorts of fun with announcements next tour.
Yeah, I think you're right. He always plays that "doubt" card because you never really do know about the future.
I think Matt's Soundgarden commitment is the biggest question. Once that gets settled, we'll see news/rumors on a new album and tour. (And come to Columbus! 1992 or so/1993 or so /2000/2003/2010... nowhere near enough shows.)

ha! i love it.
She knows their futures burning but she can smile just the same. Same.
And though her mood is fine today there's a fear they'll soon be parting ways.
I also had the same thought. I think it would be a great idea...
