Saw them at Outside Lands Festival last year -- they were the 2nd-of-5 acts ending with Pearl Jam. As Eddie said "thanks to everyone who opened" he only mentioned Built To Spill by name! (Not Silversun Pickups or Incubus).
Can't go wrong with "You In Reverse" but I'd put "Keep It Like A Secret" as every bit as good. Their latest work is more low key, perhaps mature. But man, this stuff is just the music that's been playin in my head for the last 20 years.
It was a serious jolt to my system to hear them open with "Traces" at OLF and shred through eight more tracks of 3-guitar madness and wonder! "The Plan" oh man! And "You Were Right" just absolutely kicked my ass near the end of their set!
and the previous poster stole my answer: You in Reverse
great record! enjoy!

I mean you just can't argue with 20 minutes of Broken Chairs & another 20 minutes of Cortez the Killer cover
Plus the other songs offer some nice exposure to their early albums.
For the albums i rank them:
1. Perfect From Now On
2. Keep it Like a Secret
3. There is No Enemy
(I put those three far above the rest)
4. You In Reverse
5. There is Nothing Wrong with Love
6. Ancient Melodies of the Future
7. Ultimate Alternative Waves
Those are the albums they have made that i own.

Funny thing, when the band came on stage they spent about 10-15 minutes tuning their equipement and during that time I honestly thought they were roadies or stage crew setting up. Then all of a sudden they started playing. That aside they sounded great!
There is actually a guy on here from Idaho (where they are from) and he mentioned a couple times that his band was playing at a bar and Doug was really cool. Doug actually came up on stage with them and played Rockin in the Free World. I always thought tha was a great story.

In Minneapolis they played "Life's A Dream," "Nowhere Lullabye" and "Hindsight." I looked up other setlists and it looks like they're also playing "Oh Yeah" quite a bit.

That is a great story, isn't it? Wait, that was me! Doug played my Les Paul while I sang.

Ha! Yeah! Doug did that at Outside Lands Festival, not sure about the rest of the guys, but Doug was out there, sat down with his guitar in lap just looking at the crowd, playing with his pedals and guitar. I was all thinking, "Man, that is one lazy roadie!"
Hadda check my disks, yeah I got 4 of their albums, plus their combo with Caustic Resin.
YES -- IntoDeep is totally right, "Perfect from Now On" (1997) is absolutely intense. "I Would Hurt a Fly" has a phenomenal jam after the main lyrics/chorus section. "Untrustable" -- again, just one of those songs that it seems like I had heard a bazillion times, because it's like the music in my head....
And then "Keep It Like a Secret" (1999) has two more of my fav tracks.
"You In Reverse" (2006) seemed to intimate where they were headed, a bridge, cause "There Is No Enemy" (2009) is totally a much more mellow album than there earlier stuff. And that's ok ... but I like the earlier stuff!
FORTY SONGS i got to hear over Friday and Saturday at the Fillmore in San Francisco!!! 2-hour sets each night! Only about six songs repeated over the two nights (much to my chagrin, I went back Saturday JUST to hear "Hurt a Fly" again!) And all in the haze of happy halloween goodness! (Why are bands always telling us we smell so good in Northern Cali? Must be the freshness! Local grown!)
Still trying to piece back together the set lists on the B2S forum, but:
1st night: 3 Years Ago Today, In the Morning, Untrustable, You Were Right, Hindsight, Else, Life's a Dream, Nowhere Lullabye, Sidewalk, Ripple, Virginia Reel Around, I Would Hurt a Fly, The Weather, Carry the Zero, Dream, Offer, The Wait, Twin Falls, Some, Going Against your Mind.
2nd night: Traces, Liar, Wherever You Go, Reasons Big Dipper, Car, Joyride, Pat, Hindsight, Planting Seeds, The Plan, Ripple, The Wait, Kicked it in the Sun, Carry the Zero, Dream, Offer, Time Trap, Stop the Show, Broken Chairs
Great show! Pretty packed house, but I was up front Friday and hard to tell how crowded it was in the back. Friday night was killer, "Hurt a Fly," "You Were Right" and "Untrustable" were real standouts, and the Dead's "Ripple" was a great tune for a great ol' venue! Oh man, "Hurt a Fly" just kicked my ass! Last few songs of the encore, the place was just jumpin, floor shakin', everyone rockin, fun fun time!
So I'm all buzzing from that and wake up at 6am and instantly bought another ticket for Saturday! Saturday begins with "Traces" and "The Plan" is like 3rd or 4th song, bit more mellow night overall (much thicker haze!) -- opening bands had come out in costume for halloween, but BTS was dressed as normal, 'cept Doug in skull paint and a skeleton outfit! FREAKY!
Bit more packed up front on Saturday, but pretty tame about 15 people back or so, plenty of room in the back half of the hall. And not as frenetic, literally thought a mosh pit would break out on Friday, didn't come close to that on Saturday. Really think a lot of folks had other Halloween plans for a Saturday night....
Carry the Zero, The Wait, the two solo acoustic encore tunes, Kicked It In The Sun, Goin Against Your Mind, man, I think "Wherever You Go" was there too. I've got four of their albums and recognized a good majority of the tunes... As kick ass as the energy and mood and "Hurt a Fly" was on Friday, nothing of the whole weekend compared with the 12-15 minute encore on Saturday -- last song they played was "Broken Chairs" and it was just phenomenal!
Totally went away happy both nights, recall the massive energy on Friday night, but the actual finale on Saturday was probably my overall high-point. Single song: Saturday's "Broken Chair" just edges out Friday's "Hurt a Fly", but show-wise, I think Friday had the edge. Wow!
Funny part to me was the interviewer saying, "Folks say your shows are boring, you just stand there and play." And Brett responds, yeah, but c'mon, listen to the music, this stuff is HARD to play, we're BUSY up on stage creating this music!
I laughed, cause yeah, you could think they're boring IF YOU WEREN'T LISTENING! No flashy rock moves or gestures, no choreography, no real light show or back drop vids or nuthing. Just five guys on stage blowing the doors off the joint! Personally, I was mesmerized just watching the guitar work -- the finger work, strumming and pickin', ducking down to twist a knob, adjust an effect. They are OUT THERE creating just awesome sounds and jams.
Often times I found myself just lost, staring intently at the PA Stacks! OH MY GOD, IS ALL OF THAT SOUND REALLY COMING OUT OF THOSE?!?!?!
I'm conflicted, a bit bummed these guys aren't HUGE, but just stoked that I can enjoy them in small clubs. Next tour I'm definitely travelling to see 'em. If I wasn't savin up for the holidays, I'd be jetting up to Seattle right now for the end of this tour!

Back to the Fillmore show -- just recalled that Jonathan Segel of Camper Van Beethoven jamed with B2S on CAR and RIPPLE. Reading that a few artists jump up on stage with 'em, Segel definitely, um, what's the analogy for "shredding" on guitar for violin?
