I know this is a crazy question and not many people are gonna respond to this. But what is your favorite the best single side to any album to spin?

mine is Side 4 on Lost Dogs, tat run of songs just has exactly what i look for in terms of a true music sound on wax
Side 4:
1. Fatal
2. Other Side
3. Hard To Imagine
4. Footsteps
5. Wash

Dude, I feel the exact same way I love that set of songs by far.

Another side that I love is side b of disc 2 of Avocado: Inside Job, by itself. No other song on the side to get in the way of an amazing song.

No way, I like it better with Inside Job all by itself, those other songs are only OK, except Come Back.

i can understand that, i just love that run of songs. i think its one of thier best 5 songs stretch on any album....not the bet, but one of the best, i guess a better way to put it would be my favorite 5 song run

Side 2 of vitalogy. i've just got the vinyl and fell madly in love with immortality and Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me as ending songs. Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me sounds SO good on vinyl :)

That is a very good question - and very difficult to answer! I think side one of vs. is probably the most played side of music in my entire record collection (it looks that way too!). Side 2 of Riot Act is fucking amazing, and is hard not to keep repeating (for me)

I don't have Lost Dogs on Vinyl :( :( but I love that same run of songs on the CD to bits- I have always been surprised to read people here slating 'Other Side' - The vocals there are incredible- yet another example in my mind of Eddie's voice doing real justice to Jeff's words

It would be hard to put together a case arguing against that!!

No, it's a good question; and the reason for this I think is because vinyl is so delicious that when you hear a brilliant slice of music you think 'go again?' 'yes indeed!!'- I did this with after the goldrush earlier today (I was trying to put it back on the shelf but ended up playing 7.5 sides!!)

I find with a decent record I get a genuine sense of calm and wellbeing just from the depth of the sound and the harmonics, which I never get with a cd, not matter how good or expensive the system. So, yeah, the run of tracks on a particular side carries a lot of weight, since if there are two poor ones you may hardly listen to that side, but 4 or 5 amazing sounding pieces and you could be there all day! (well I could anyway).

Actually I was cooking today and thought I had left the pan on when I realised it was just the run-off groove! My setup is so lifelike these days that certain records I keep thinking I can hear the doorbell chiming - hard to describe, but the sound is so organic it's merging with the furniture!!

i totally hear you man. you listen to cds but you hear a vinyl. you can hear things in a vinyl that you've never heard before in that song while listening to an mp3 or whatever. a great example of this is 'Of The Girl'

Yeah, it's weird isn't it? You get 'detail' with digital, but with vinyl you get 'space', and you can tweak a setting, or a speaker position or something, drop the arm and just take a big breath of relief when the sound comes in - a 'vinyl-sigh'!!

I hear extra bits in the digital mixes, but the problem is they are extra bits of 'sound' rather than the sound of instruments - I mean an acoustic guitar on a CD never sounds like an acoustic guitar - it sounds like a shiny clear jangly metal crystal noise! (I have listened on £100,000 CD systems, and always, always prefer my £1000 setup)

For me though, the main reason I listen to music at all is for the voice, the voice of a singer (like that vedder fellow- the best singer out there), and the experience of hearing a voice on a well set up turntable is incomparable. Don't think I've ever had Binaural on vinyl - maybe that's why it's my least favourite album - I have the UK 7" singles, so have heard some, but I don't believe I've ever heard of the girl on vinyl. Something to look forward to - one of my favourites on that lp - would like to hear sleight of hand too
