I just started listening to Lost Dogs and I kinda like the song Education. I think I hear a Talking Heads influence. Is that possible?

What does everyone think of this song?

I absolutely love it. Definitely one of the best tracks from Lost Dogs.

When I left my last job, working in a school for a year before going on to train as a teacher, one of my friends there made me a card with lyrics from this song on the front. She didn't even know any PJ songs but found this one!

I love the song the way it sounds on Lost Dogs...full of atmospheric, spacey guitar effects and nice full drumming.

Unfortunately it doesnt sound like that at all Live. I saw it once live, on its debut i admit, so maybe there were some flaws to be worked out, but it didnt work for me....which sucked cos I LOVE the song!!! :D

I can hear the Talking Heads influence though, or maybe some Sleater-Kinney with the simple Ed riff.

    I'm a seed....wondering whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it growwwwwwwwwwwwws....... :)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Education! In my top 10 PJ songs ever. Lucky enough to hear it twice. I literally punched my husband (in the arm) when they started playing it at Lollapalooza. I was completely bummed when I saw the Vic setlist rolling in as we were sitting in our hotel room in Chicago and saw it on there. Unfortunately we weren't one of the lucky ones to score tickets to "THE show" and I figured there was no way they'd play it twice in a row...but they did  ...and again in Mansfield!!

The initial drumbeats of the song just make you want to get up and dance :D ...kind of unique for a PJ song, I think that's why I like it so much.

One of my favorites. Wish it would have been included on Binaural.

LOVE this song! I can't imagine why it got left off of BInaural. I can think of at least three or four other songs that could have been replaced by Education and would have vastly improved the record.

I sometimes like to believe that Ed intended Education to be on the record instead of Evacuation - but that the guys at the record label just couldn't read his writing. Certainly would explain a lot!

Another huge thumbs up for Education here! Love the demo of it, too! Both versions are amazing, IMO. One of their absolute best songs -- wish they'd play it more live, but maybe that's part of what makes it special.

I was lucky enough to see this on its live debut in Dublin, '06. Great song.
When we found the things we loved,
They were crushed and dying in the dirt.
We tried to pick up the pieces,
And get away without getting hurt,
But they caught us at the state line,
And burned our cars in one last fight,
And left us running burned and blind,
    Chasing something in the night.
