10 Planks of Communism
Karl Marx describes in his Communist Manifesto, the ten steps necessary to destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state.
America has been increasingly adopting more of Marx's ideals, sometimes more subtle than othertimes, yet sometimes rather openly. President Obama has openly suggested Marxist ideologies and has surrounded himself with numerous outspoken Marxists.
Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. [Cliff Kincaid, Accuracy in the Media] Obama endorsed openly Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders in 2006. Obama was later endorsed by the Communist Party USA in his run for President of the United States.
Following are the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, followed by a discussion of how America has adopted each of the planks.
1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.
The courts have interpreted the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868) to give the government far more "eminent domain" power than was originally intended. Under the rubric of "eminent domain" and various zoning regulations, land use regulations by the Bureau of Land Management property taxes, and "environmental" excuses, private property rights have become very diluted. As a result, private property in lands, vehicles, and other forms are seized almost every day in this country under the "forfeiture" provisions of the RICO statutes and the so-called War on Drugs. Private owners of property are required to get permission from government relative to the use of their property.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
The 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913 (which some scholars maintain was never properly ratified), the Social Security Act of 1936, Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933, and various State income taxes established this major Marxist coup in the United States many decades ago. These taxes continue to drain the lifeblood out of the American economy and greatly reduce the accumulation of desperately needed capital for future growth, business starts, job creation, and salary increases.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Another Marxist attack on private property rights is in the form of Federal & State estate taxes and other inheritance taxes, which have abolished or at least greatly diluted the right of private property owners to determine the disposition and distribution of their estates upon their death.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
We call it government seizures, tax liens, "forfeiture" Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; and the IRS confiscation of property without due process. The U.S. government is preparing now for a massive confiscation of property of patriots who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill).
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
The Federal Reserve System, created by the Federal Reserve Act of Congress in 1913, is indeed such a "national bank" and it politically manipulates interest rates and holds a monopoly on legal counterfeiting in the United States. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking. This is exactly what Marx had in mind and completely fulfills this plank.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State.
In the U.S., communication and transportation are controlled and regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established by the Communications Act of 1934 and the Department of Transportation and the Interstate Commerce Commission (established by Congress in 1887), and the Federal Aviation Administration as well as Executive orders 11490, 10999 -- not to mention various state bureaucracies and regulations including State mandated driver's licenses. Federal Highway Act of 1916 made federal funds available to States for highway construction), the Interstate Highway System, 1944 (funding began 1956); Interstate Commerce Commission given authority by Congress to regulate trucking and carriers on inland waterways, 1935-40. There is also the federal postal monopoly, AMTRAK and CONRAIL -- outright socialist (government-owned) enterprises. Instead of free-market private enterprise in these important industries, these fields in America are semi-cartels through the governments regulatory-industrial complex.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
We call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations. The Agriculture Adjustment Act of 1933 provided that farmers will receive government aid if and only if they relinquish control of farming activities.
8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
We call it the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor and it's seen in Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000. And I almost forgot...The Equal Rights Amendment means that women should do all work that men do including the military and since passage it would make women subject to the draft.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
We call it the Planning Reorganization Act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. Food processing companies, with the co-operation of the Farmers Home Administration foreclosures, are buying up farms and creating "conglomerates."
10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education". The federal influence of education is evident in "head-start" programs, school lunch programs, textbooks, and library books. Our children are being indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! The philosophical concept of "fair share" comes from the Communist maxim, "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need! This concept is pure socialism.

The government isn't stealing anyone's property or property rights. And communication industry is mostly privatized. And we don't centralize work or industries through government, in fact, the opposite has occurred, it's mostly privately run and we have private schooling options because public one's aren't good. Any other brain busters you got for us Mr. McCarthy?
Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
I'm not sure why ultra-conservative blogs are running with this. Did Obama steal Doc Brown's DeLorean???
because the audience is easily convinced ... everything is a PR / propaganda war these days and these days - give the right message with the right spokesperson and you can pretty much convince most people of anything ... independent thought is soon becoming obsolete ...
1. Abolition of private property - NO. That the public can aqcuire lands in special circumstances for developing public goods like roads etc (With compensation in most cases) is not remotely what is meant here. You have not abolished private property in any way, shape or form, and it seems extremely unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax - No. What you have is not heavy. Compare with elsewhere in the industrial world. And in neither cases what Marx was envisioning anyway. When he said heavy, he meant it. I can arguably concede half a point here.
3. Abolition of inheritance - NO. Hell no. A tax on it is not, and I do repeat, is not the same as abolition.
4. Confiscation of rebel property - No. you have some measures on the books for wartime and such, but that is not what Marx meant. Marx meant that after the revolution, the property left by the fleeing ruling class, should be rightfully confiscated by the workers (ie their government). Since the socialist revolution never happened in the US, you don't have this.
5. Centralized banking - Yes. Everyone has that.
6. Centralized communications - NO. The trend worldwide is actually towards less centralization as in Europe, the national tele and rail companies have mostly been privatized. In the US, they never were centralized in the first place. That there are laws concerning communications and that the government is in charge of maintenance on highways is not the same as centralized communications.
7. Economic growth with some kind of centralized plan - Yes. That's something every country has. We all are keen on economic growth, and all authorities have some sort of plans for how to do that through regulation plans, zoning etc. Which is just plain common sense in our overpopulated times. I think Marx meant something a bit more authorative, like a plan of what would be done speedily by government decree (think of the Soviet 5 year plans), while what exists are zonings describing what general sort of activity is allowed. But I feel generous and concede this one.
8. Equal liability to all of labour - No. This is not remotely what is alluded to here. This is what Soviet were trying to do with their farming communes etc. You do not in any shape, way or form have that in the US. Period.
9. Abolition distinction between town and country - NO. Hell no. That's not happening anywhere in the world. Everywhere, and I do mean literally everywhere, people are flocking to the cities and piling on top of eachother, while the countryside either maintains their population or are in decline. It even goes down to regional levels. The small towns grow by absorbing people from the countryside, but the region in general loses even more to the bigger cities.
10. Free education and ending child labour - Yes. As has most of the civilized world, luckily.
So I will concede 3,5 points out of 10. And that's because you have central banking, some kind of economic planning, free education, no child labour, and a progressive income tax. You fucking commies, you.
But, you dont have anything of what was the point for Marx, which was revolution and abolishment of property. You only have some of the technicalities he had thought through would be needed after such an event. Much of which is just general governance with a twist. So all hysterical right-wingers can be calm. The US is not and probably never will be communist. It will be something different in the future, but that's because everything is going to be different in the future. And history has shown a few times that the spectres of the past rarely is what should worry you. We always prepare for yesterday's war, but never know how tomorrow's war is going to look like. And it ususally is something else entirely.

Get on out of this thread with that logic thing you are bringing around...
After all, it's not like prfctlefts will ever try to dispute this... He is a hit and run poster who when he does stick around in a thread, he ignores all relevant arguments and just repeats random talking points or vague statements.

I have seen this in my town...people that do not want to sell there property taken (they pay them, but they don't give them what it is worth) buy the city under eminent domain, then sold to the large developers to build a mall or condos...
excuse me ,but I cant sit on my ass all day or my comptuer at work like some people on here can.
That may be. But it still doesn't in any way, shape or form equal abolishment of private property. The fact that they are getting money for it is an outright recognition of that right. And if you leaf through some legal cases, you will find that private property is a crucial right whose priority is way at the top in most cases.
As for eminent domain, if they didn't have that option, any public infrastructure project would be enormously more expensive, as the ground owners could see the plan coming, know that they would HAVE to cross their land, and demand a higher price. And that higher price would ultimately come from the tax payers. So, would you accept a tax hike to ensure that ground owners got more money every time? Alternately, you can have eminent domain that pay for the land after set rules and tariffs. Not perfect, and might feel unfair in many cases, of course. But I don't see a viable option, aside from doubling the ocst of all public infrastructure...

Ever heard of eminent domain ?
Eminent domain refers to the power possessed by the state over all property within the state, specifically its power to appropriate property for a public use. In some jurisdictions, the state delegates eminent domain power to certain public and private companies, typically utilities, such that they can bring eminent domain actions to run telephone, power, water, or gas lines. In most countries, including the United States under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, the owner of any appropriated land is entitled to reasonable compensation, usually defined as the fair market value of the property. Proceedings to take land under eminent domain are typically referred to as "condemnation" proceedings.
Maybe not compared to some european countries, but it's coming. ie VAT TAX
we have a death tax which is the same as abolition IS IT NOT ? and that's coming back.Better not plan on dying next year.
Isn't that exactly what Marx meant by Abolition distinction between town and country. :? in other words he wanted people to live closer togeather.
that's not the trend here. as what was posted.
I think you are confused with all due respect. Everything is true about what was posted and the examples listed. They have been for the past 80 years

there hundreds if not thousands of cases of eminent domain all over the country. It does happen in the manner I claim. Iv'e heard lots of stories about and I can't remember what show it was but they profiled several cases about eminent domain.
What would you think we are turning into? Bcos this president does not embrace capitalism ( not cronie capitalism)
That's a good ? the thing is alot of people that have come here from other countries do see and have said that what they see Hapening is the reason why they left their country in the first place.
I call bullshit...

Eminent domain is about drawing the line between the public interest and private property, meaning that under specific circumstances the public may seize the necessary land to achieve public works that benefits all. Anyway, this is beside the point. Eminent domain does not equal abolishing private property communist style. Not even close.
...which we already have in Europe. Not the end of the world, not armageddon, and nothing to do with communism. Again, when Marx says redistribution, he fucking means it. Not tax adjustments designed to keep capitalism floating.
No, it's not the same as abolishing inheritance. Abolishing it would mean the state takes everything when a person dies. Taxing a percentage is not abolishing inheritance.
Generally, that some taxes exist that touches the subject is VERY FAR from abolition, which is what Marx is talking about. The inventors of this list are reaching to make the US look *gulp* communist, and can only convince anyone, because you frankly don't know what communism, or socialism for that matter, is. It has something to do with taxes, they reckon, so paying taxes must mean communism in some way...
Marx wanted to liberate the workers and establish classless society. That would also entail equalling out differences between country and city, ie between industrial workers and farmers. Also, the squalor he saw in the english cities of his day, which were appalling, probably inspired this passage.
Uhm, yes it is. The trend is that governments have less control over these things, and private companies have moved in everywhere. America never had government control of these things, but they were monopolized heavily from the start instead. Monopoly is not communism. Neither is law texts that encourage inter-state trade and that places the responsibility to maintain good roads to this end to the various governments local and federal.
Uhm, at least 6 of these points are directly wrong. Or let me clarify that. What is stated under each point may be true in itself, the falsehood is that they bear any resemblance to the communist "planks" in the headlines. Particularly if you have any knowledge whatsoever about what communism entails. A tax is not "just about" abolishing or "along the same vein". Under communism you couldn't tax inheritance, because inheritance wouldn't exist. You wouldn't need eminent domain, because the state would own everything anyway. And so on.

Spit Up My Nuts When I Saw This (Last Year)
Prfctlefts vs. OutofBreath
Gonna have to agree with Lefts that the US has been teetering closer to a socialist\communist backbone, but concede OOB the obvious point that the most draconian of the 10 planks are sorely missing in any overt form in the United States.
Although it would be foolish to look at Prfctlefts list and go, "oh shit, we're in straight hard line commy town",
i contend it would be dangerously naive to take OOB's point too far and dismiss the notion that there are substantial elements in the global elite that are (and for a long time have been) pushing for a overtly socialized society.
Does this mean we are up against a near term push for the abolition of inheritance or property rights?
Doubtful, as the amount of social upheaval this would cause is unfathomable.
But it DOES mean that those who value their personal liberties should be on constant guard against the encroachment of government.
Further, those planks that OOB concedes are the 3 to 5 MOST IMPORTANT to the *ESTABLISHMENT* of control over the many by the few via the power of the state.
The 3-5 that remain unimplemented (in any recognizable form akin to true communism) are those that would FINALIZE this domination of state over individual,. However, centralized banking, the income tax (which OOB can only say "isn't as high as elsewhere"), free indoctrination (er, education), and tight control over the media and agriculture (while neither is done in a true communistic sense, both are done through more subtle methods to achieve nearly the same effective ends) are of major consequence in the sphere of the current political state of this country, and it would behoove anyone with half a brain to consider those ramifications, and whether such implemented policies truly serve best the PEOPLE or rather their Masters-of-Sorts.
:(
If I opened it now would you not understand?
we are nowhere close to this ... what we have is a consolidation of wealth amongst the elite ...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
The eminent domain situation in my town the property was not for public use is was so the big developer here in my town could build a mall and condominiums. This developer has many friends in city hall

eminent domain was used here 16 years ago to expand our airport because it was a hub for TWA, American, and Delta airlines and they needed to add 2 runways...they paid people 3x the market value of their homes and the smart ones took it and moved. the ones that fought it for 5 years and held out only got market value which really sucked because once 80% of the neighborhood was wiped out and bulldozed the remaining market value dropped by over half of what it was. the other time it was used was 2 years ago when they expanded and made new highways and overpasses to relieve the bottleneck on a major interstate intersection here. those people got twice the market value. hell if the state wanted to take my house for infrastructure i would take the money and run. many people are upside down in their mortgages these days and would pray for something like eminent domain to bail them out....
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Wouldn't that be, nepotism?
Not communism...
As far as income taxes go, whether they are as high here or elsewhere really doesn't matter. Factor in the dozens of other taxes, tolls, and user fees, and yes, we are far over-taxed. Then, add in the vicious hidden tax of inflation, that is, the expansion of the money supply by the government which robs the currency of its purchasing power and hurts lower income families the worst.
I agree that the distribution of wealth does not coincide with the socialism ideal at all. This country has been gradually lowered into economic fascism, or the softer name, crony capitalism above all else, which inevitably leads to oligarchy.
