You don't happen to be a musician who (like) went to high school with stone or jeff... are you?

    Early 90's Seattle Music scene?

    Ex-tech for like Johnny Ramone?

Old San Diego musician bud of Ed's?

    Matt's old tech's drum teacher?

    GOOD LUCK! ;)

i'd say being a super fan means you have NO chance of working for them. No one likes a YES man or someone who's going to drooling everytime the guys are around

I've always wondered if you got paid enough in the few weeks they toured to compensate for a year, or if those guys (roadies, tech's) have 2nd jobs. What a sweet deal that would be, work like 40 days a year in different locations around the globe + get paid for 365. NICE!!!

I know a guy that is a roadie for Bob Dylan (greatest person I know!). He tours with him everywhere and they seem to do pretty good. They have to kids and they both are in extra activities and whatnot. Dylan does tour a lot though

Why make something you enjoy so much turn into a job? I was talking to Brad Klausen and he said he misses the days he could just go to a PJ concert as a fan and enjoy the show.
  • Man I'd love to work for PJ... I'd work for next to nothing 24 hours a day if I had to! :D

Imagine the job roles you could do.... *dreams*

ohhhhh and only a small proportion of those 'jobs' are illegal :o
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Do you actually have any experience?!? :)
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Does Ed need a person to light his cigarettes for him? If so, I'll take it. All I need is a quiet little corner in Studio X to sleep in. I'll provide my own pillow and blanket :)

And I can test all the bottles of wine to check that they are OK!
  • I can iron the white pants

If I knew where it was I would take you there. There's much more than this

Funny you say that...I was talking w/ Barry over at Ames Bros. and he was saying the same thing.

I think most of PJ's crew have been with them a long time. There's probably not much turnover in those jobs.

Agreed. I'm sure for most people listening to PJ's music and going to shows is what they do to get AWAY from the pressures of a job, taking a break from the work week. I figure no matter who you work for, there will be pressures and stress to some degree. It's probably best to keep it separated from things you do for fun.

Now having said that, on the other hand, you gotta work for somebody (most of us at least) so it might as well be a kick-ass rock band! :)

  • If you want work for them as a roadie, you better start learning the job right now. I'm actually a lighting tech and went on the road with professionnal artists, and what I can tell you, it is far to be what it looks like.. Stay home and enjoy the simplicity!

Ok. I could wash Their clothes, even socks. In my hands! But no boxer shorts or briefs...
Or I could make feet massages after shows. Without talking anything... Do You think have I any chances?

Hate to say it but even though it sounds awesome, eventually it would probably become "a job" and could ruin most of what you love about the band - human nature I think - one's problems are all relative...may see Ed in a different light after he hurled a wine bottle at your head :)

Being a touring roadie is a lot like War. There are long passes of extreme boredom followed by short passes of extreme stress. When you are setting up the sound stage and there's a break in the signal flow, you better hope that it doesn't trace to you or else you can count on being reprimanded if you're on the bottom of the totem pole. You're pretty much on the clock all day long except for meal breaks.

Don't expect to see your family much until post tour.

But the pay is good (for mega touring bands) because it is constantly accumulating into your bank account while you have no time to spend the money, and most meals are paid for in the touring budget.
