I am stoked to see Yim Yames on July 22nd. Anyone from 10C attending the show?

I wish I were attending this. My friend will be seeing the three of them at Newport next weekend. Instead, I'll have to wait a month before My Morning Jacket rips my face off my head.
Okay, that answers about as much of it as it needs to. Fuck it, I'm still calling him Jim James...I sound stupid calling him Yim Yames...the only man to ever get away with replacing a "J" with a "Y" is this man:

Next to Mr. Vedder, this guy is hands down the coolest rock star around right now IMO. I got hooked on MMJ in 05 and haven't looked back. What a voice. What a talent.
I'd love to see him solo (there's so much outstanding solo shit he's done over the years on this here interweb), but it's great to see him rock the fuck out with bandmates Hallahan, Two Tone, Broehmel, and Koster.
I also want to take this opportunity to say one of the other cats on his "Appalachian voices" tour is Ben Sollee, who is oozing with talent. Enjoy the show OP.
I discovered MMJ in 06 and have been a fan ever since as well. Still waiting to see them live :(
They write some incredible tunes, and judging from Okonokos, I'm fairly confident that they fucking tear it up live.

where did you hear he does a lot of drugs?
I had read an interview in some magazine a few years ago (Magnet maybe?) where he said there are times where he takes a bunch of stuff to expand his mind's experiences, and other times (like immediately following a tour leg) that he completely detoxes, including alcohol.
Does this look like the face of someone who enjoys mind-altering substances? I say yes.
Killer Boots man!

"i believe it's yogging."
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
I believe it's just running in place for long periods of time...sounds wild.

It might be a soft J, I'm not sure.
Sad I'm missing Yim's little appalachian voices tour. But the 6 Jacket shows I have tix for in the coming months more than makes up for it.
like those boots? here you go...

You used to play with the media a lot in interviews, giving crazy answers and not taking things too seriously. Was that an attempt to stay grounded, by reminding yourself how absurd it is to have people always wanting you to talk about yourself?
It is absurd. It's such a weird thing because I feel like the whole music part of my life is completely separate from the personal part, so I feel like the two don't really mix that much. It's clearly divided in my mind.
Does that have anything to do with the fact that you now have three names? (He was born Jim Olliges Jr. but uses James because Olliges was constantly mangled; Yim Yames is a recent addition and, apparently, permanent.)
(laughs) Maybe. I don't know. I consider the Yim Yames moniker the same as Jim James, but I feel like it's just a little bit funnier and a little bit weirder, but it can still be pronounced Jim James if someone wants to call me that. I just feel like it's a little more unforgettable.
And then somebody saw that there's a guy who, like, plays acoustic covers in bars in North Carolina or somewhere and was going by the name Jim James. So I was, like … I'm just gonna change it to Yim Yames. (laughs) I hope to God nobody else out there has it. I Googled it, and didn't find anybody else named Yim Yames.
holy shit thank you so much for that link man.

I am going to this one. Jim loved Woodstock, I hope Yim does too.
