Its easy. In the 'new thread' window, on the bottom of the page you will see it 'post a poll'. All you need to do is to check the checkbox, say two poll options (pj and PF) and voila!
    I will swallow poison
  • How can these two bands even be in the same contest?
A child's rhyme stuck in my head...
It said "Life is nothing but a dream."
I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.

Being today a big Pink Floyd fan, I do have to say Pink Floyd.

Seriously, I do have a big respect for Pearl Jam. I've been a fan for many years and I still listen to them at many occasions.

But come on, how could you ask if Pearl Jam are standing on the same level than Pink Floyd are.

Would you say Mike McCready is as good as Gilmour. Even Mike himself would agree with me.

This is a pearl jam board, I would expect them to win. But they really have nothing to do with one another. Different eras, different impact and influence, different music, different musicianship. If I had to pick I'd go with the Floyd, but why would I want to have to pick? I probably listen to more PJ than Floyd right now, but if I could only take one band's music with me to a desert island, I'd take Pink Floyd.

I love it, APPLES are kicking ass! I guess this means PF are the apples.

Really like it's been said not much of a comparison but I might argue that McCready is as good as Gilmour.

I like PF a lot, but PJ holds a special place so I gotta give them the edge.

I hope you have thought long and hard about that one! I know there are bands out there that are considered "better" than pearl jam and Pink Floyd may well be one of them...but on a desert island, there is no way I am taking Pink Floyd over Pearl jam!

Think about it man, a desert island! There's no saying, "Oh I have had enough of Dark Side and Pink Floyd altogther...I might reach for Vs by Pearl Jam to keep myself sane!!

Syd Barrett once ran his bike over my foot by accident, and Ed threw carrots from the stage at Finsbury Park in 1993, one of which hit me in the face. Syd apologised, but Ed didn't. So Floyd wins. :D

speaking of pink floyd, the smashing pumpkins did a 19 minute cover version of "set the controls to the heart of the sun" several time earlier this year.

Just like the 5 minutes of your life you wont get back from posting in this thread. Better time spent listening to the song imo.

    Its cool.

because whining, screaming, and acting disenfranchised has been done. That music has no soul. If you can't tell that he doesn't create from the heart, then I have a kick ass piece of ocean front property in Nebraska I'd like to sell you.

Have you seen the vieuphoria dvd, have you seen any pumpkins shows (specifically from the actual pumpkins era) and have you even seen any interviews or the stuff he writes on the website and especially the old BC website.

He may not have the greatest voice ever, but neither does ozzy and black sabbath fucking pwn. I actually quite like Billy's voice, it can sound quite soft and nice e.g. Luna etc and very angry when the song is needed e.g. fuck you.

"Destroy the mind, destroy the body, but you cannot destroy the heart" .

EDIT - if you listen to all the albums, there is such a diverse style of music, its not just this screaming hard psychedelic rock - e.g. in the arms of sleep, disarm, farewell and goodnight, we only come out at night, 33, galopagas, cupid de locke, by starlight, tonight tonight to an extent.

Also i own over 400 shows and the amount of times a song like today has been reworked shows an extrememe amount of passion for the music as they arn't constantly playing the hit songs, even on the reunion tour they reworked it and added a solo on the end. And you talk about soul, if you want to see it in the sartorial discourse then just look at the stage attire, its quite a humurous range and original.

    EDIT EDIT -

Oh yeh, "no soul" is playing 3 hour shows with no support.

Actually I have seen several shows. That band defines 'going through the motions'. There is a reason they have faded. Thank god. They had the heart of a tit mouse.
  • Found it on Youtube. Interesting. They did it in their own way and kept the feeling of the original song. I liked it man !
