Broken Bells is an American indie rock band featuring artist–producer Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Portland indie rock band The Shins. The project was first announced on Tuesday, September 29, 2009.[1] The pair decided to work together after meeting at the Roskilde Festival, a Danish music festival, in 2004 and finding they were fans of each other's work.[2] It took four more years before the two started working together and by March 2008 Mercer and Burton began recording together in secret at Burton's Los Angeles-based studio.[3] The two describe their material as "melodic, but experimental, too."[4]

I Like em!

James guy looks like Kevin Spacey, kind of cool and freaky at the same time.

  • good shit! for some reason, i cant stand the shins, but I love this CD!! I played it out nonstop when it first came out....understandably, it became PJ season and I havent been able to stop listening to the PJ boots long enough to go back to it....but i think that anything danger mouse does is worth listening to.

    Yeah. Great album.

"The Ghost Inside" might possibly be my favorite song of the year.

Love this album. Bought it on vinyl (sounds fantastic on vinyl btw) and have listened to it alot throughout the year. Also saw them live at the Showbox in Seattle, and let me tell you, it might have been the best show I saw this year. I say might b/c I saw Soundgarden's "Nudedragons" show played at the same venue a month earlier. But they are that good.

They have said interviews that I've read that they have enough material to release another full length album. James Mercer has said he wants to record w/ The Shins next, so I'm thinking we can expect more from them in 2012-13. Here's hoping its earlier.
