I was there too, and honestly thought that the Zac Brown Band had better control over the crowd than DMB. Didn't understand why so many people were talking and walking up and down the aisles throughout most of the show. I was in the lower tier so distance is no excuse. It was about as close as the seated section got to the stage. DMB is really tight as a band, probably tighter than Pearl Jam, no fuck ups, and can't think of the last Pearl Jam show I went to where there wasn't at least one fuck up by somebody, although I'm not sure how much they vary the setlists so that might be the reason. I'm not complaining about the Pearl Jam fuck ups btw, just want to get to the point where when it comes down to fanbase (us :D ) there is noooooooooo comparison. The whole time I was looking at the motionless floor I thought to myself "wow, imagine if Pearl Jam was up there playing DTE or Corduroy."

DMB doesn't have rockers like PJ has though, so obvioulsy the crowd won't go nuts over the mellow set list. DMB seems like a good time to have a few beers, have a smoke, chill out and listen to tunes on a nice summer night.

leave the rocking out night for PJ.

    unfair comparison.

Never could even get myself to listen to DMB at all i just don't like the jazzy feel to the music, plus they don't have Mr Mike fucking Mcready to melt your face off every single night ...And i will never attend Stadium shows at all been there done that with THE WHO and THE CLASH opening for them at the old shea ....

that must have been a lot of fun apart from the accoustics being terrible and planes flying over every 10 minutes. shea was a dump though

I've seen DMB twice, once in a tiny venue in Wolverhampton and once at the o2 in London. London bored me, it felt completely different and DMB don't do arena shows well in my opinion - that probably sounds too harsh, I think it's more the music they play.

I think PJ are well suited to arenas.

Also, at the London show DMB had a real crappy way to end the show ("sexy mother fucker shaking that ass"...repeat repeat repeat). Sleazy? I just thought what the heck is this? Not exactly a high note to leave you with that normal feeling you have after a great show.

They were really good in Wolverhampton though.

I swear I thought the same thing. I told my GF how badass it would be if PJ just took the stage and opened with CORDUROY or citi field doing DTE.......damn place would crumble.

When I was in college everyone loved dmb... I didn't understand the fascination with dmb. Still don't...

I'm with you....I don't get it. I respect the guy and all but musically I think he's boring and doesn't really provide anything worth discussing. If I sat around and smoked as much pot as him I would probably write that shit too.

Its the main reason I don't go see Dave anymore, his fanbase ruins the shows, a bunch of frat boys getting wasted out in the parking lot before the shows, then once show time rolls around, everyone is going to piss, or texting, or talking. Last time I went I said I would never go again, and I'm a huge DMB fan. One of the main reasons I travel to see Pearl Jam isn't just because of the band, but I've made so many great friends through them, and when they take the stage I don't just enjoy watching them, I enjoy watching the crowds reaction as well, much more than a concert in my opinion. If only I could get some shows down here though :(

  • All of DMB's song's are bland and sound closely related. One of my buddies plays DMB all day and night and swears he is God's greatest gift to music, yet I hear nothing exciting, driving or awesome in any of his songs. DMB lacks the power and rock of PJ and the jamming that made Grateful Dead and even Phish popular. It's college kids music because drunk college kid's think they are music aficionados after sitting through a 10-15 minute "jam" of All Along the Watchtower. DMB's fan base is the worst.

I'm a big DMB fan and I think they put on great live shows.

That said, I will also say that their last 3-4 albums have not been that great. They are forced to play those songs, and many are just not good on the album OR live.

I'm glad to hear they are taking some time off of touring, because I believe if they get off the road...maybe, just maybe, their creative juices will start flowing and hopefully we can get a decent album out of them.

 Well that's embarassing. But still, I really didn't like it ending the show. (Perhaps if I was a Prince fan or even someone vaguely aware of him I'd think differently!)

you also just described for pearl jam fans. But I guess pj fans get a pass on that cause its pearl jam and every one acts like saints before a show.

agreed....I remember when "What would you say" first came out I thought it was pretty good..."Satellite" is a decent song

then they released "Ants Marching" which is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard in my life

Next album comes out...."Crash into me" is ok....."Tripping Billies"....almost tops the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life which was produced by the same band

  • Ants Marching and Crash are probably there 2 biggest hits. Night one they played ants marching.........night 2 was crash. Thats the only time the crowd was alive.

first off you cannot compare the 2 bands. they are both different and unique in their own ways. now as for the citi field shows, i have to say the first night was a subpar night on paper but unless you were their you can't really say anything about the energy and the crowd. now n2 was a whole different machine. show overall was a 7/10! the setlist started off with a bang had a few duds throughout the rest of the set which aren't actually bad in terms of the energy the band gets from the crowd and the fun they have playing the songs. now I was not there but I know a lot of people that were there. i don't know where you and your gf were sitting but from what I was told, the crowd was unreal and just rocking and the band was having an amazing time on stage.videos that have been posted on youtube have confirmed that. the band will play what they want. i have seen dmb 41 times and have only been letdown a few times. again you cannot compare pj to dmb because they are different

We were in section 310 and it was dead a lot of empty seats to.....yea those youtube vids were from the packed floor but when it comes to loudness PJ PHILLY AND MSG were 20-30,000 people to 40,000,,,, 50,000 lastnight and pj blew them out of the water. Some girl behind me had her head between her legs 3/4 of the show. EMS came over and told the boyfriend she needs to sober up or they were taking her.....funny shit. I am just saying I heard DMB was good live but I expected more....sorry just my opinion. I wanted to rock out lastnight instead I was sitting watching the rescue helicopter fly around behind the stadium.

    scott

I was in section 311 and I was rockin' a PJ shirt. PJ is my first love, but I had a blast at this show.
