So my best friend and I decided we'd take advantage of a day off and great weather this weekend... I voted going to the lake in the mountains... That was the plan until she found out there is a Renaissance Festival this weekend...

Anyone been to one of these? I know it'll be fun but still... i'm not sure what its going to be like.
if they make me LARP i'm going home 8-)

LOL... ok, Medieval times and Tournament of Kings was hella fun... Eating with your hands and all...

As long as I can go around screaming "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!" all day i'm cool with tossing axes.
I was looking at the website, all your weapons must be "peace tied"

My wife dragged me to one of these last year. (Truth be told- we saw a PJ tribute band the night before, so this was "her day".) Anyway- as soon as I stopped trying to fight the silliness of the whole damn thing, I had a BLAST! Drink the "mead". Eat a "turkey leg". Buy a poofy-hat. Call random chicks "wenches!!" Trust me it ain't that bad! Enjoy! It can be a really good day!

    DON'T GO!

6th grade...worst field trip ever. pouring rain. cheesy props. mud everywhere.

then on the ride home i sat behind nick weiss who proceeded to pee his pants (remember--we are all 12 years old or so).......i can still see the piss trail gushing beneath me like the mighty susquehanna for the 40 minute ride home.

bad news...these renascence fairs. bad news.

    DON'T GO. I BEG YOU!

I'd rather go to a wnba game. I rather spend a day with metsy. I rather hang out on the south side of chicago after midnight tonight. I rather not have to hang with insurane singing bands.

It's fun if you're a kid. It's fun if you're an adult nerd.

My parents bought my brother and I wooden swords from one when we were kids.. we spent years beating the crap out of each other with them.. good times.

I think it had potential... this one just felt more like a high school fair than what I had in mind.
Also a lot of the vendors were kind of stand-offish... It was odd, there were only a couple that really even greeted you let alone tell you about their causes / merchandise.

I shall await the photos ... don't think we have role models. TV series or reality show??

Role Models was a movie with Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott. It was pretty funny....or at least I thought so.
