the "best" opportunity for an extended meeting, along with your fellow fans, not to mention a chance at obtaining an autograph will be after the concert (~2am is when Ed was typically leaving venues during the West Coast jaunt). we waited for Ed prior to both Vancouver shows; we met Ed prior to the 1st Vancouver concert when he arrived at the stage door ~3:15pm and after taking the time to shake our hands and say a few words he declined several requests for autographs from others around us, saying he "had a lot of work to do". we waited again the next day to request songs ("Long Nights") but when Ed, Smitty, and Jesse drove up and saw a handful of people waiting at the stage door once again they decided to drive around to the front of the building and dropped Ed off at the main entrance,...

I am from CT and flew out to Santa Cruz. At approximately 5:00 p.m., while waiting in line for 10club tickets, EV walked up to us with his ukulele. He thanked everyone for coming and asked people not to yell his name "as he was just doing his job". He strummed his ukulele and walked away. He was very humble and polite.

It was actually the reverse of that in LA. I came thisclose to meeting him before the show, like right after soundcheck. I had just gotten in from Texas, and hadn't eaten, so I wandered to a McDonald's a block down the street.

I come out, glance down the street, and see two or three girls snapping pictures like mad by Ed's tour bus. I decided not to run over there ... I'm not that guy anymore ... but casually walked up. By the time I got there, ed was gone. But I got to see the nice ladies' photos and autographs.

Waited with a bunch of folks after the show, until like maybe 2 a.m. Ed finally came out, but just waved and immediately boarded the bus. No chit-chat. Main reason for that was 1) Being Los Angeles, the crowd was too huge (like maybe two dozen people) and 2) Being Los Angeles, some douchenozzle from TMZ was there with a big fuckin' video camera that lit up half the block. I knew ed wasn't going to want to deal with that shit.

Does the tour bus have EDDIE VEDDER in huge letters on it?

TMZ and their kind are scum. The probably thought there would be a ton of 'celebrities' there. They also probably thought Sean Penn might be there... they try to piss celebrities off so they will respond in anger and Harvey Levin will have that on film for the next 10 years. I wish they would all... Britney, Paris, Lohan, TMZ move to Sadr City, Iraq.

I know this is probably being asked in jest, but to throw in my 2 cents:

When PJ recently played the Beacon, the buses were labeled like so:

    Gear Vehicle and Artist Vehicle

I sat watching the 2 Artist Vehicles from a window seat in a diner, but for a pizza delivery to the buses, I didn't see too much. After I left the diner, I spoke to fans who had just met Ed and learned he showed up in a passenger van - windows not blacked out - that had a sign saying "Runner Vehicle". I was told I missed him by two minutes. Later on (after hanging by the stage door and meeting people who were traveling with the band), I learned the Artist Vehicle held, amongst others, the band's chef, his son and other staff including some of the security team.

Same here met him after night 2 in vancouver and after the VH1 rock honors came to the crowd said to be quite his ears hurt. Signed some autographs and said thanks and left. He usually leaves late after the show....

I'd rather met Eddie at a hotel or something, I mean he's probably tired and exhausted after a show.

Prior to LA2 just happened to be walking down street near Wiltern and saw huge bus backing in behind theater. Walked over and joined small group waiting, a bodyguard, I guess, had come off the bus and went back on when i got over there, then there He was!!! Ed walked off the bus and signed a lot of stuff and was so cordial and nice. His voice is so melodic even when he is just speaking! Amazing!!

And to make it even better someone was filming it while it happened!!
