Deciphering a dream

I wouldn't typically post something like this but I have noticed that there are some very smart and insightful fans on the board. The other night I had a dream that included Pearl Jam. I was front row with a friend before a show and struck up a conversation with Mike McCready about Crohn's (9 years myself). After talking he suggested I come up on stage later on and I could request the band do a song and help sing. As the show ends I'm up onstage and suggest the band cover Leilani by The Hoodoo Gurus because I insist that Eddie has the perfect voice for it and Matt will kill on the drums. The band and I finish the song and walk off the stage together, I wave to the crowd and my friend and then the dream ended.

I rarely if ever remember my dreams but this was really vivid. Aside from being crazy....any ideas? I was just at the NJ/MSG shows so I wonder if its lingering effects from the greatest live show I've ever seen (MSG2).

Carl Gustav Jung (German pronunciation: [ˈkaːɐ̯l ˈɡʊstaf ˈjʊŋ]; 26 July 1875 – 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, an influential thinker and the founder of analytical psychology. Jung is considered as the first modern psychologist to state that the human psyche is "by nature religious" and to explore it in depth.[1] Though not the first to analyze dreams, he has become perhaps the most well known pioneer in the field of dream analysis. Although he was a theoretical psychologist and practicing clinician, much of his life's work was spent exploring other areas, including Eastern and Western philosophy, alchemy, astrology, sociology, as well as literature and the arts.

He considered the process of individuation necessary for a person to become whole. This is a psychological process of integrating the conscious with the unconscious while still maintaining conscious autonomy.[2] Individuation was the central concept of analytical psychology.[3]

Jungian ideas are routinely discussed in part by curriculum of introductory psychology course offerings with most major universities, and although rarely covered by higher level course work, his ideas are discussed further by the Faculty of Humanities.[clarification needed] [4] Many pioneering psychological concepts were originally proposed by Jung, including the Archetype, the Collective Unconscious, the Complex, and synchronicity. A popular psychometric instrument, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), has been principally developed from Jung's theories.

It sounds like a nice dream, pleasant, your mind kept you busy doing something enjoyable. Good sign. Hope you have many more.
I dreamt about PJ last night too although I don't often. Something in the stars perhaps for us PJ fans?

    Hi,

If you genuinely want to work with dreams I'd point you in the direction of Soulcraft by Bill Plotkin.

I would also walk in the other direction if someone says they can interpret your dream. How can they? It's your dream and your unconscious speaking.

You have a fear of failure

Seriously...cool dream...but I certainly can't help make sense of it. Just a dream I suppose
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

Thank you for all the insight and help. Especially to you Paul. Laughing my ass off could be described as therapy, right?

If ya can't get a laugh out of the Hoodoo Gurus there is something wrong. I bought Stoneage Romeos in high school when i was about 15! 8-) Would love to see them open for Pearl Jam sometime. :) Their latest album is a corker!

I had a dream where I was going around what looked like the palace of versaille popping giant balloon animals... with i think my ex-gf... we had to outrun robot policemen in a parking garage but they caught me... when we were going up in the elevator (at what must have been the police station) we started playing video games on the elevator tv... then i woke up

    WTF?

WTF is right! That is bizarre.

I have to get the new CD from the Gurus. Roommate hooked me on them in college back in 90. Wish they would come to the US, but they don't get any radio air play here. I was hooked after hearing Televison Addict..

For those who don't know Leilani by the Hoodoo Gurus:

    Original early 80s video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnp6DHck ... re=related

    Live, mid 80s:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=524Rsx6de1s

    Leilani

Somewhere on a South Pacific island
Sits a young man staring at the surf.
His native girlfriend died a death quite violent
A tribal sacrifice made to the earth.

She was brown, her hair was black, her eyes were blue.
A chief's daughter, Leilani was her name.
She and her young man made a handsome two
But lava tore them both apart again.

Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd say).

They were saving for a little hut,
    She collected sea-shells every day.
    Everynight they'd share a cigarette
But The ancient, angry gods got in the way.

Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd plead).

    (CEREMONY:)
    Katoomba, Hey! Macumbah, Ho!
    Umgawah! Hey! Ho! Hey-eh! Ah...
    Leilani - crula-bula-ulladulla-wok-a-tai
    Aba-laba-laba, Hut!

    Leilani-nevageta-huta-tera-cota-tile
    Aba-laba-laba Hut!
    Umgawah!!!

Still the young man sits upon the beach,
He's staring misty-eyed out into space.
He's thinking about his girlfriend (of late, deceased),
At least her death had purpose; now his life is a waste!
Leilani, don't go to the volcano (he'd beg her)

    and...
