Increasing immigrant populations = DECREASE in violent crime

Just stumbled across two interesting articles about immigrants and crime:

Immigrants and Crime: Perception vs. Reality

Headless bodies and other immigration tall tales in Arizona

Apparently, crime decreases with an influx of immigrants (legal & illegal). Also, U.S.-born men are WAY MORE likely to commit crime than foreign-born men in the U.S.

Furthermore, looks like all those AZ politicians are basically full of fear-mongering shit with their stories of their state being under siege by undocumented immigrants. No wonder all my friends in AZ didn't know what the hell they (the politicians) were talking about.

I feel the Arizona issue is more about jobs. They're really not interested in decreasing crime at all.

a friend of mine who lives i phoenix went to see a show and public enemy was the opening act and they played only one song, and it was "by the time i get to arizona" that you listed above, then they threw down their equipment and walked off the stage. my friend said it was the coolest and angriest thing he had ever seen...i can't remember the headliner, i want to say it was either anthrax or rage against the machine...i will find out this weekend when i talk to him...

it's pretty obvious state officials are wagging the dog here ... the economy sucks so - let's blame it on the easy targets ... a group that would fit into the prejudices of the local population ...

next time any PJ fans are in Philly and want a cheese steak, don't go to Geno's. The owner, Joe Vento, held a rally last night in Philly with the local station that plays idiots like Limbaugh, to raise money to support the Arizona law. He's the guy that has a sign at his store window that says "Speak English Only". The cheese steaks are not that good to begin with and why is he so worried about things going on in Arizona when Philly has too numerous problems to list. Now I get that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but he just seems like a guy that is against foriegn people in general and now does not seem the time to promote division.

Yes, stop paying taxes and apply for food stamps and medicaid, I'm with ya! Seriously, though, this social security thing is absolute bullshit. I think Bush handled this whole "build the wall" thing all wrong too. He should have just paid a bunch of illegal immigrants half of minimum wage to build it and it would have been up from Texas to California in a matter of months!
